I’m just wondering if anyone can help. My daughter is almost 4 and suffers with constipation. This evening she has been unwell with sickness and diarrhoea. I’m not sure if this is linked to her constipation or if it could be a bug. How do you tell? The dr I spoke to fobbed me off as usual with advice to increase movicol. I plan to take her to see another dr tomorrow.
Thanks x

Does sound like a bug if she's being sick and feeling unwell.
My daughter has constipation which we manage pretty successfully with daily lactulose (we never got the hang of Movicol) - in the past I have made the mistake of not giving her the lactulose if she's got a tummy bug. All that happens is that she then becomes really constipated (and it takes days to unbung her and get back to normal - must be due to the double whammy of losing extra fluids through the diarrhoea plus not getting her laxative, or it moving through her bowel too quickly to do any good).
So I'd think that keeping going with the Movicol would't do any harm and might do some good (if only for getting some fluids in). Hope she feels better soon.
Thank you. I did manage to speak to a doctor and they said to keep going with the movicol! Luckily she’s perked right up today and we’re looking at it as a positive as she’s been cleared out!
