Speed of Movicol/ osmolax and dairy reactions.

Hi team,

Couple of queries. How fast can movicol get things moving?. My daughter is on a maintenance dose of 1 sachet morning and 1 afternoon. This morning she had a hard poo ( for her but was a type 4) we are meant to be aiming for type 5-6. I gave her 2 osmolax ( equivalent of movicol) sachets, so a double dose, and 2 hours later she has wicked stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Has anyone experienced this speed of reaction? Normally for us it would be 12-24 hours later we would see the effects. The only other thing that has changed is we had started reintroducing dairy but stopped yesterday as thought she was getting more bunged up. Again not sure if such a rapid reaction is possible. Any experiences / advice both with speed of reaction and or issues with dairy would be gratefully received!

Many thanks

Cath

Hi are u giving her a softener to help it come out softer type 5 whippy my LG on 2 and half atm were getting type 6 soiling it takes 2 to 3 days to get it moving. We use senna 5mls at night to help to keep poo soft .

Also try 2 and half sachets a day to get it to the whippy type 5 .play around with it a litre of fluid also helps to push the poo out.

Thanks Misty. Definitely trial and error. I've also learnt if other factors change such as if she hasn't eaten much that day it impacts too and doses need adjusting! Never simple!

Yes agree if their poorly it mucks them up too.nothing so simple but I also give my LG senna 5mls at night so its soft to push out as that's where it all stems from.fluid does help to move things but can also make them pee alot.
