Residual urine, urgency and frequency

Hi, I haven’t posted for ages as I’ve sort of accepted my daughter is incontinent! I stressed every day for four years and It got us nowhere. She’s no better than a baby!

She’s 6 and a half now and we’ve had four years of appointments with everyone up to urologist and no improvement at all! She’s missing lots of school. She had continence nurse one week, urologist the next, then half term then uraflow today! So three consecutive weeks she’s missed some school!

We’ve just been to hospital for another uraflow today and her residuals were very high! One was 87ml! And the intervals were about 30 minutes. She asked for the loo each time and her face was all screwed up and bum sticking out as if desperate and she still had wet pants in between even with weeing on the toilet every half hour!

She’s on solefenacin and has been for quite a while ( it doesn’t help, oxybutynin didn’t either), she’s on movicol every day which helps the poo. She is pooing properly daily. She drinks perfectly. She’s soaked every night ( through nappy!)

Any idea where they go next after this? It was going to me mirabegron but I think that was if no residuals and hers today were huge! She physically can’t let more wee out when the flow stops. Then 20 mins or 30 mins later she can wet.

Anyone know what’s next? is it intermittent catheterisation?

I think they should be finding out why this happens rather than just trying to treat it?

Hi there

Has your daughter had the video Urodynamic test , my daughter went from having the uroflow test , several times to the video test, after this she has been self catheterising , but it was only last year when she 10 and half that she had the confidence to do it herself before this I had to go into school and do this for her , the senco worker did offer to go over to BCH and them train her to do it but my daughter was not comfortable about this so I accepted that, since last Aug she’s had Botox 3 times ( due to go in again next week ) the Botox during the first 6-8 is like heaven , I actually cried at how happy she was , that she was dry , but with her it wears off too quickly because her muscle are spasming so much , hence why she’s going in for her fourth lot in 12 months , it’s meant to last for at least 6 months but it’s her choice as it’s a simple procedure and makes her happy and more confident in herself and she starts big school in sept , hope this helps x

Any new developments?

We tried bio feedback this week but no joy - he cannot isolate the muscles.

He has residuals and on mirabegron (not actually liscenced for kids and we had BP and ECG and resting heart beat rate at GPs as he was concerned to see the impact).

He did have 1 whole morning without wetting at school on Tues!
