Day 7....help!

Hi everyone. We're now on day 7 of disimpaction. My 8yr old has been taking 12 sachets of Movicol (built up from 4) and started 3 doses of Docusate daily yesterday. It's not having much effect other than a bit of type 6 poo here and there. There's been no movement today. I'm getting more and more anxious and I wonder if there's just cause or whether it's all pretty normal. How long should it take? Thanks for any advice x

Hang in there. I reached a point when my son was on 12 movicol and nothing was happening. At that point we spoke to his paeditrian who asked us to continue and he was emitted into hospital (at this point he had been on 12 for 10 days) it was probably one of the best things that happened for us. They took control of his medication for three days. They took him of movicol and put him on sodium picolate and senna for a course of 5 days. 3 days in it started to move which he found very painful. After this we went back to movicol and it's more manageable. Don't know if this helps.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I think we'll be admitted tomorrow. I had to give him a micro enema yesterday and another tonight. If tonight's doesn't work then the gp said he'll admit him tomorrow. I guess it's for the best. X

Looking back I wished my son was emitted sooner.

It takes a bit of pressure of yourself and stress. Hopefully they can get the medication right for your child and it will hopefully slightly easier when you get home.

Hope everything goes ok for you and good luck.
