So here goes my second blog input. I am going in for my Trans vaginal scan tomorrow...not looking forward to it..I keep thinking they wont fin anything..the consultant did say that if they don't find anything then the laproscopy is next on the list...but you still have that feeling that no one will believe you unless its diagnosed..I've got to a stage now that i just well up every time i talk to someone about it and then I fell like a right pratt...but hey you can't change the past...I so want them to see something just so that I know i'm not making it up...

Not looking forward to the pain...but here goes...was just wondering if anyone was diagnosed just on the basis of trans vaginal scan...

I know how you feel about 'making it up' - over the past few years I've had countless transvaginal scans, MRI scans, hysteroscopy, biopsies, and they said nothing to worry about, they found fibroids but said that's not the problem, they found a large cyst on my left ovary, suspected chocolate cyst, but they still said I didn't have endo, finally had my lap couple weeks ago and was diagnosed with severe endo, seeing consultant next week to,decide whether to have the suggested hysterectomy. Even before I went in for my lap I still thought they won't find anything, I think we all feel like that , but we also know deep down that the pain we have day in day out isn't normal. Have you had a transvaginal scan before? good luck and let us know tomorrow how it goes xx

will do....I had the trans vaginal scan when I had my first miscarriage ..after that never had one...in a way reading what you've written has given me confidence to know that if nothing shows up I will still get the lap done as they can get it wrong.. that's why I like writing on here you have people like yourself who have been through the misdiagnosis part of it..If it wasn't for you lot I would just take the consultants word for it and I wouldn't have pushed it too much..but now I know the mistakes the consultants can make and to be adamant to find an answer..thanks guys... honestly you don't understand how much it helps to talk to people who understand :-)

when they found my big cyst, my gp was almost happy they'd found a reason for my pain, they rescanned it after 3 months and apparently it had disappeared, i still had the same pain though. in one way i was happy it hadn't grown any bigger, but i felt back to square one as now i was just 'the mad woman' again with no real reason for my pain. upon reading my first ever transvag scan notes, it said left ovary could not be located, mri said large cyst on it, next scan cyst gone and ovary 'healthy' although she literally scanned me for about 30 secs lol, at my lap they again could not see my left ovary as so much endo on it.

so yes, what i'm trying to say is don't feel down if they don't find anything today, it doesn't mean you don't have anything there, it depends how skilled the sonographer is too - one of my consultants last year said to me (very patronisingly) 'oh i see you have fibroids, oh well we allow those, they don't generally cause too many problems' my sister had a hysterectomy for fibroids!

as i said i did think what if they dont find nothing at my lap, then i thought well, ok, but at least its ruled something else out, and they will need to take their investigations down another route.

anyway, good luck for today, at least you know that the scan itself isn't too bad as you know what to expect - and yes i agree, this site has been an absolute god send for me the last two years, and especially the last two weeks, as none of my family and friends have this and as helpful as they are they just don't get it xx

Hi I had a trans vaginal scan a few weeks ago. It was a tiny bit uncomfortable but not painful and best of all now full bladder. They found nothing gynae just ordered whilst I waited for my lap to make sure I didn't have a cyst or anything else going on. I did leave there thinking I bet my lap won't show anything either and a fraud. Still awaiting for a lap date. I had about 18 months ago had left sided pain and backache that just got worse over a few months and pain every time I had sex. Had normal ultra sound that showed a 6cm x 3cm cyst then I was sent for an MRI that showed the cyst had gone a letter to the gp said poss endometriosis if I was still in pain. So had a 3 month spell of Decapeptyl n that worked really well. As soon as it stopped the pain has returned hence the consultant saying it must by endo. I suffer left sided hip/ pelvic and back pain mostly around ovulation for a week then a few days of virtually no pain then about 5 days before my pain I start feeling bloated and the pain returns. Period pain in bad and I pass large clots and suffer very heavy periods. So lets see what they say. Good luck for today

Hope u get diagnosed soon.

Hi, I had two abdominal and transvaginal scans (the first notes were lost!!) and on both occasions I was told I had insignificant cysts on both ovaries, and an insignificant fybroid and that these were both common and not an issue. This I do now believe to be true, however, I did go on to have a Laparoscopy and was diagnosed with Endo on both ovaries. I am now awaiting my post op Appointment to find out my options. Soooo, these scans are not definitive in diagnosing Endo, most doctors know this and (hopefully) will follow this up with a Lap. As many of us know on here, you all too often have to push and push and make yourself heard if you feel you are not.

Good luck with the scan, bare in mind they may not find anything Endo related, but it is reassuring they are having a good look and seeing if anything else is going on "in there" xx

hi guys

thanks for replying..I've had my scan and I am quite sore down below...but have taken painkillers and my favorite ...the hot water bottle.......they saw cysts on my right ovaries and also she noticed that ovary seemed to be stuck and not moving when poked,,so she thinks that it is then possible that i do have endo..my consultant appointment is in June so he might recommend lap....lets see what happens...thanks again guys

Hi - at least they've now found something, it's unfortunate there's so much waiting in between appointments but at least things are moving - hope you feel better xx

Hi Amera. I was gonna say good luck for the scan and do not feel bad if nothing is found through that. Just make sure they don't just leave it at that and make sure you are still seen by a gyno and for a Lap!

However, I see from your comment above that you have now had the scan! I am glad they have been able to find something and that they want you to see the consultant. Shame it not until June, but at least you are now starting to get some answers, which must be fab! Hope the soreness goes away quick for you too.

Best wishes x

Hi I know exactly how you feel I have been in and out of hospital with tummy and back pain and they've always said it was IBS or an inflammation of the bowel. I was distraught but finally I have had a lap for a cyst removal 2 and a half weeks ago and found severe endo on both ovarys, womb and diaphragm. So hang in there a lap I'm pretty sure is the only way to diagnose endo.

Good luck. X

thanks again for all your comments...I'm kind of relieved they did find something because now its more the case of what else they find rather than if they see anything at all...Thanks for all your support guys...will keep you updated
