Mirena coil for 3 years and now suddenly no periods!

I was wondering if you could help me please. I'm a 26 year old woman that has Endometriosis. I usually have the most severe periods that not only cause extreme pain, but excessive bleeding. Since having the mirena, I have found that it did make my periods a lot lighter, but I was still experiencing all the other symptoms. It has been 3 years now and out of nowhere, my periods have suddenly stopped. I have had 9 months now without one. I have been to the doctors and all hormone blood tests came back normal. I am, just a little concerned as from reading up on this issue, I couldn't find anyone where it took this long? Is this normal for it to take 3 years to work or am I being 'fobbed' off by the same doctors that took 8 years to find my Endometriosis. The doctor is happy to assume that it is just the effect of the mirena coil, but I am unsure??

Your question makes me happy yet sad. I had my coil fitted last week and am a bit apprehensive. It worked for you! But 3 years? The leaflet said it would reduce the periods but, to be honest, i can handle them it's just the 2 weeks before i dread. Sorry i don't have an answer but you can only give it a try and be happy you're not having your periods = no pain
