Prostap and breakthrough pain
Hi Smiley - I don't know if it's usual, but I always do x
Thanks Chrissie66 how quickly is it for you?
Pretty much from the off, and then every month when I am supposed to be bleeding.
How long have you been having the injections?
I was to have 4 injections before surgery. I had the first one in June then opted to have the 3 month injection so I'm into the second month of the three month if that makes sense.
I've never had a three month one so not sure how they work...but speaking generally for Prostap, although overall it's a break from the pain, there are some days when I am still curled up. But my last course was specifically to shrink a cyst and despite the pain which might have suggested it wasn't working properly, the cyst was completely gone by the end of the treatment. I'm sure it's doing its job, and you'll be fine x
I have heard that prostrap can make the pain worse before making it better x
Hi ladies - As MissTeal said (hi Kat by the way!) Prostap/Zoladex all hormone based medications like this usually make endo pain a lot worse before it gets better. In very basic terms, they work by stimulating your pituitary glad to produce lots of Estrogen. Estrogen feeds Endo and so makes the pain worse. The produce of Estrogen is increased so much that the glad in effect becomes tired out and unable to produce any more Estrogen, which in turn stops your periods and helps the endo shrink, but until you get to that stage the endo usually gets worse first.
Also it doesn't work for every endo sufferer especially more severe endo. xx
