Is there any possiblity that endometriotic cysts can occur after a complete hysterectomy attached to the intestines?

From what I've learned over the years a hysterectomy doesn't always cure endo. If yuo are taking HRT and there was already endo on your bowel then I would say yes it's possible for it to continue to grow. HRT is estrogen and that is the hormone that makes endo grow. I would ask your gp next time you see them. x

Thanks for your answer. I'm not taking HRT specifically because I had endo, so unless I'm getting oestrogen from another source it seems unlikely.

Hi - I agree with the answers above - hysterectomy helps when endo is in the muscles of the womb i.e. adenomyosis (I always spell that wrong). If you also had endo elsewhere in the pelvis then you would still have that unless excision surgery for that was undertaken at the same time as the hysterectomy. I had stage 4 and had it recto-vaginal, bladder, on bowel, ligaments, diaphragm and ovaries. I had radical excision which strips out the whole lining of the peritoneum so that 'things' can be separated and put back in their rightful place 20 months ago and no signs of endo so far. Best thing I ever did.

You might well be lucky and had it confined to the uterus - the lady above is right too that it could be adhesions rather than endo. For peace of mind, I think a chat with your GP would be good - they should have the notes from the hospital. If they are not knowledgable about endo (as not all GPs are) then ask to get referred back the team who helped you.

All very best wishes
