Hi, I had my one and only lap with excision surgery of endo and removal of endometrioma etc in Oct 2011 followed by 6 months of zoladex. It is only now 2 years on that I am having some endo symptoms - so you can have a period of feeling good. (It did take me a a few weeks to recover from the lap though). Best wishes.

I was diagnosed 4 years ago after a lap I had pain after and tried the coil but my body just rejected it. I then had zoladex for 6 months and then been on the depo ever since my pain started back worse than what I remember before in July this year and been in and out of hospital ever since my second lap is next week

I've had four now..the first two were for diagnostic purposes third was for IVF to work properly fourth was for pain relief! It seems the more operations you have the more adhesions form and the more pain you can get! I had extreme symptoms before my first Lap.. had the first... What a waste of time... Had the second then I was diagnosed. It took many years between the two and different health authorities!

Its easy to hear that a Lap can cause more problems , its very true but not always the case! Everyone is different! And as the girls have said it depends on what follow up you are given!

Wishing you lots of luck and love! Xx

I had two laparoscopys first one I felt worse straight away pain was still there second pain not so instense for few months was really nice to be without the sharp tugging pain for a while but unfortunately it did come back with revenge.. just want to be honest. Sorry but yes eeveryone is different

So am I better not getting the lap and staying on the mini pill and keep taking painkillers ? Don't fancy the pain being worse this is bad enough pain free for two weeks a month so am lucky compared to others x

I would go for a lap because until the doctor has a good look inside you don't know where the endo is, how severe it is etc... they will remove as much as they can. If there are adhesions too, then they can be cut/removed. It is dangerous to leave adhesions as they can develop on the bowel and restrict the bowel and cause blockage. So yes, a lap is important. But also trying new pain meds, new birth control, diet etc can all help your endo once you have had your surgery.

Each women is different, and each case of endo is different. How quickly it will grow back no-one knows but some women have years of relief whereas some women only have a few months.

Hello!

No matter how scared you are about having a lap, it's definitely worth it, as having a diagnosis is really very reassuring. Yes it will hurt, unfortunately I can't tell you how much as I had a joint lap and op to remove a nodule from my belly button, which turned out to be endo. It will also depend upon what they find and whether it's dealt with then or if you need further treatment. After having so much pain, the relief in being given an answer far outweighs the discomfort of any procedure.

If you think it may be on your bowel then it is likely you will need further treatment, I'm waiting for mine!

Be strong and good luck, you will be just fine x

Hi are you booked for just diagnostic lap? This is what I had just to confirm if it was or wasn't endo. The result was yes I had endo and also found I had hydrosalpinx which is fluid filled tubes and my doctor believes the tubes are causing a lot of my pains on top of the endo pains. I'm now booked for another op to remove them and am hopeful this will help. They have to do it by laparotomy, open surgery so I'm not looking forward to op as it's going to be a long recovery but I am trying to think positive that this is going to help me.

So I understand it's scarey but if I hadn't had this first lap I wouldn't know what was causing my pain and although taking pill was suggested if I did this I would still be in pain and wondering what was going on inside me! Finally getting answers was a mixture of relief and upset but knowing what I'm dealing with helps me cope.

Many people get relief from a lap where they remove endo and maybe they're not on here to answer your question because they're feeling better! Endo unfortunately does grow back so it may not be a permanent fix but I know I'm hoping for at least a break from this constant pain and for me the thought of a few months painfree would be heaven and as everyone else has said were all different so no one knows but all I can say is I'm really glad I had the lap, got some answers and was no worse from having it but the pains have got worse over the last year as I've had no treatment just painkillers.

You have to do what feels right for you, so good luck x

I had my first lap then 6 weeks later another to laser the endo patches away. The first couple of months after that was really bad in agony with blood clots and what looked like flesh bits. But after being put on the pill continuously for 4 months at a time, my pain was greatly reduced.

Well worth going for the lap then you know what your dealing with.

I've been one very lucky endo suffer since my initial diagnosis and treatment I've been almost pain free. That was 17 years go.

I hope you get the symptom and pain relief from you procedure.

had my lap in may just gone, after 4+ years of pain, found stage 4 endo, adhesions, endo on my tubes, uterus, stuck like a ball, choc cysts on ovaries, after my lap i began to regret it, because the pain was still there as well as the op pain, gas etc, told my consultant and he said it can be normal for up to 6 months to be getting some pain (if being treated, and the level of treatment aswell as diagnosed) but it gradually went, and now after 5 months i don't get much pain at all now :) so glad i had it, one to get a diagnoses and to see what we are dealing with and two to sort out a long term plan.

Everyone is different,

defiantly have it done xx
