I have been scheduled for my 4th Laparoscopy. After severe pain has finally uncovered yet another cyst on my right ovary.

I'm off work at the moment as I have a very demanding job (which I love) and in my current state I am just not capable of driving the long distances required to carry it out, plus I am pretty low and exhausted with the pain. I have been suffering with severe pain in my right side for the last 3 weeks after trips to A&E GP and scans etc they have found the cause, another cyst on my right ovary. I had a large one removed when I was 18 (a long time ago) this was done by an open cystectomy (not sure thats the correct surgical term -cutting along the front of my pelvis like a c section) I was lucky and they managed to save my ovary. I have been suffering with Endo since my diagnosis 17yrs ago on and off, however and I am very blessed to have had my Daughter now aged 13. I know after this many operations I have scar tissue, I am not aware of fertility but they are going to run dye through my tubes when I am under to check they are clear. Me and my partner would really like another child and my consultant is really pleased with this decision, as you know they believe that pregnancy can help with the endo and it did with my first pregnancy, I was pain free for a good few yrs. I just want to know if there are any ladies out there in a similar position or have been, and what was the outcome for you? I suppose I am after some reassurance....

Sorry for my rambling - this is the first time I have ever used this sight or asked any questions

Thanks :)

Hi Angel :)

I am so sorry you've been going through it but glad they've found out what's wrong and are going to sort it

I was diagnosed in 1992 and had my first cyst removed with open surgery (laparotomy) like you. Over the course of the next few years, the cysts kept coming back until I eventually lost my left ovary.

When I was initially diagnosed, I was told that because of the damage the endo had caused, I would never have children, and when it didn't happen I just accepted that there was nothing that could be done. Five years later I changed husbands :D and within a month of moving in with the current Mr C, I was pregnant.

Sadly, I had a problem with recurrent miscarriages which was caused by another condition totally unrelated to the endo - but I was falling pregnant all the time, having been told in 1992 that it would never happen. He literally had to look at me! Clearly I was incompatible with the first husband in more ways than one!

I really hope it all goes well for you. Sending love and hugs

C xxx

I'm having my 3rd laparoscopy next week and have had several problems with cysts. In 2003 I was admitted to A&E with suspected appendicitis, it turned out to be a cyst on my right ovary which had ruptured. It was then that my endo was discovered. I'd previously been diagnosed with IBS. I had a further laparoscopy in 2005 and was told to have a baby as soon as possible. I was told this after coming round from my op, the timing could have been better! My partner and I weren't ready for children at that point and the 5 year age gap didn't help at the time. A couple of years later we started TTC with no success. After a year of trying we both went for test and was told there were problems on both sides. I was booked in for my 3rd lap due to take place in January 2009. A week before the operation I found out I was pregnant, I conceived after I'd given up trying, reseigning myself to the fact that it wasn't going to happen. My op was cancelled. 12 weeks after having my 1st child via emergency section I found out I was pregnant again. This wasn't planned I'd gone back on the pill. After the pregnancies the endo came back worse than ever. My husband is in the Navy and is deployed most of the time and I'm at home struggling to cope with my endo and running around after a 32 and 21mth old. All I want is for my endo to be in control so I can get on with my life. So I'm now preparing myself for my 3rd lap next week. I ended up in A&E a few weeks ago after collapsing due to pain. I was given an emergency scan a few days later and was told I had a small cyst but the pain was probably due to the endo. So now I just have to wait for the results following the op
