Every month I get bad period pains, my boobs kill and have upset stomach. I do have a diagnosis of endo.
I came off the pill in August and have on... - Endometriosis UK
I came off the pill in August and have only had one period since then. Could my endo be the cause?
Hi Madeline - I don't think it would be the endo in itself - endo after all causes horrendous periods
I think it's more likely that your body hasn't settled again after the pill for whatever reason.
I think you need to speak to your GP, I would have thought that 8 months was long enough for it to sort itself out. They can give you things to kick start it
Sorry, this hasn't been very helpful, but I hope you get it sorted

Hi thank you for your reply. I went to my GP but they won't refer me until it's been 12 months, thats the criteria. Every month is the same pattern i'm sure it's my endo giving me an upset stomach. Can I ask does endo effect your stomach?

Hi again
Yes, I get an upset stomach just before and for the first few days of my period. I can't say for sure it's the endo though.
It's shocking that you have to wait 12 months - won't they even test your hormone levels to find out what's going on? The GP could do that, you wouldn't need a referral

Sorry meant to say that I had a blood test and that didn't show any problems with my hormone levels. Something must be wrong though with all the discomfort/symptoms i'm having.

I started taking the pill when I was 18 which seems along time ago. Before I went on the pill I remember my periods being heavy but don't recall them being overly painful.
I'm not taking any meds specifically for my endo but i'm on Amytriptilene for a bladder illness I have (interstitual cystitis don't know if you've heard of it) and it's meant to be good for pain.
I've started doing urine tests to see if i'm ovulating which I doubt and then I thought the GP may be more inclined to help me. Maybe this isn't the case but its worth a try. I didn't know if the GP could prescribe me anything to kickstart my cycle, but i'm also starting acupuncture to see if that will help.

If you're in pain, regardless of what's causing it, your doctor should be helping you to control i
If they're going to stick to this 12 month rule, they have to help you get to the end of it
If it's really affecting your life that badly, go back and be firm about telling them you need some help
I hope you get this sorted out soon xxx
