Ryeqo and The Never Ending Period! (Mounjaro?)

Hi all,

I am in week 6 of taking Ryeqo and so far have had a 21 day period, followed by 6 blissful days of no bleeding… and then my period started again! 😩 I thought it was supposed to be stopping my periods, not making them go on for longer. Has this happened to anyone else? How long did it take for your periods to stop?

I am also on Mounjaro, and my GP wondered if that could be making the Ryeqo less effective. But Ryeqo a very new drug to her, and she wasn’t sure.

Really trying to decide whether to persevere and hope it settles, or whether to just accept it’s not for me.

Grateful to hear of anyone else’s experiences!

Sorry I haven't got any good advice on this, but I am about to start Ryeqo on Friday and have been googling for about 3 months if I can also start Mounjaro with it. Interested to see how you get on. I read somewhere that Mounjaro could stop the medication being absorbed, not just Ryeqo but lots of other ones too like the pill etc. Also then read somewhere else that it improves ovulation because of the hormone changes with insulin resistance. All was on Dr Google so literally just stuff I'd seen... hope it settles down soon for you

Thank you. Yes, I’d read a few really positive stories re: mounjaro and endometriosis- it was one of my main reasons for going on it but I think the trouble is that I basically started on both things around the same time. I think it probably is the mounjaro that’s making Ryeqo less effective. I think I’m going to stop taking Ryeqo … I just can’t carry on with the constant bleeding and all the symptoms that go with that. I know that people with PCOS have had great results with mounjaro because of it being anti inflammatory, so I’m hopeful I’ll get some relief from endo symptoms by being on just that. I can always try Ryeqo again in the future. I hope you get on well with it - my advice would be to let your body get used to it first before adding in mounjaro, just in case!

Thank you that's really helpful to know! It deffo sounds like you need to listen to your body and what works best for you - bleeding nonstop is not good so planning to try Ryeqo later sounds sensible, and it's a long term medication anyway so no harm in waiting a little while, while you do whats best for you!

I did also read of the affects with Mounjaro and PCOS (also have that with the endo and adeno 🙄) but have been put off by the thought of heavy periods because of the reduced affects of PCOS coupled with endo! Actually having irregular and shorter bleeding with PCOS majorly delayed my endo and adeno getting so bad, and as soon as I took Metformin for the off-label affect to regulate things to deal with PCOS symptoms (before I found out it was endo) my endo got to stage 4 within a year. I'm deffo going to do Ryeqo for a few months before Mounjaro

Thank you so much for your insights! Good luck with it all and hope things improve when you've stopped Ryeqo :)
