Bleeding while in zoladex

So it's now day 4 of a light bleed snd if started to get worried tried to find any information on why it's happening if it's normal ect no luck. Called 111 who got me a gp consultation who atleast acknowledged they dont have training on this and suggested I go to urgent care or a&e. Went there to be told because im not loosing alot of blood theres nothing they can do. Can't get intouch with my nhs specialist til face to face which is april, emailed them but won't get a reply til Tuesday at the earliest. At urgent care they did urine BP and temperature. +1 on leu and ph 5.

Has anyone been on zoladex for a year or more and randomly got vaginally bleeding with pain to the lower back and left upper and lower abdomin? Is this something I should be worried about?

Hi I have been on zoladex a few times the only bleed I had was the 2 weeks after the first injection after that I had no bleeding until I stopped it. Have you been on it a year? And is it for endemtrosis?

Ahh ok have you had a break I was always told by my gyne that the longest I could be on it was 6 months?

Not true. That’s a recommendation but some of us can take it for longer.

No that all depends on situation. As I've already done a 6 month stint previously they gave me a review checked side effects and deemed it safe to carry on...the suggested is 2.5 years

This is completely normal. I bleed all the time on this stuff. Month 14 now. I hemorrhage when the damn thing runs out at 60 days for me. It's just your ovaries sitting behind the mask of zoladex. This drug makes the pituitary gland overwhelmed but it's not perfect and for many of us with endometriosis we continue to bleed. I have a period every other week on it. Honestly, it just works differently for some women. Some months are better than others because one ovary is in better shape than the other with me. Please don't panic. Also after a year there's plenty of anecdotal evidence from women who say it stops working as well as it used to. Mine stopped in December. It's working less and less. Don't worry about how long you are on it either. There are women who have been on this years and years with no bone mass loss. I doubt very much that anything is wrong - it's just a pretty rubbish drug/ solution for some of us xx have you started HRT or changed your HRT recently? Have you eaten anything to activate your endo like sugar or soya? Don't panic xxx

I'm on the monthly and due my next one Monday which will be my 14th. It just scarred me coz so far I've had blood in my urine for 2 days and now basically a light period and the only info I found was "it's normal for the first few months but otherwise seek medical advice and no one could advise which is seriously annoying and my specialist is only with the nhs for 1 day a week where im based

I have blood in my urine too. It's probably your bladder with endo like mine. Still get checked out - with lower back pain it could be a kidney infection and you need to rule that out xxx

Yh i did they couldn't find anything the only thing they found this time was a +1 over normal for white blood cells. Any time theres something new I try to get checked because tou never know with this condition if it's gunna be endo or something nasty or just a bog standard infection.

I was on zoladex for 6 months and bled for most of it. Sadly, these things are prescribed, but with a lack of knowledge and training on the side effects. I will say, it screwed me over. My body is still in the process of getting back to normal,6 months later. I ended up having a vaginal endoscopy due to the bleeding and that was barbaric. It also gave no answers and it's traumatised me. ( an MRI done privately has now given me answers. Nhs wouldn't do it) My best suggestion is to listen to your body. Do your own research and not rely on the minimal knowledge of consultants. I'm now drinking Rheal Balance tonic and noticing a difference with monthly pain. I'm not reaching for codeine so much. I recommend it. I hope you find answers x

I have my urine tested weekly due to my bladder with endo and most weeks they find trace blood in urine.Im on my 13th zoledex this week and last month i had a 4 day spot bleed and it passed. My endo nurse said it can happen its the hormones and some people even still have full bleeds on it.

Im on it till my hysterectomy which is may-aug ive been told

yes. Endo Specialist told me before the ovaries switch off with zolodex. They first go into overdrive before the settle down. Hence the bleeding. It’s alarming but it’s nothing to worry about. Had 3 separate runs on Zolodex and it happened every time. Tranexemic acid can be prescribed to stop bleeding.

This last time I was in perimenopause. So swapped tibilone for evorel continued 50mg patches and all good now.

Hope that helps to ease your mind until you can fact check this with your own specialist. Xxx

Yes. When is your bleeding in the what was your original monthly ovulation or bleeding? Have you any growths on Ovaries previously ?

Zoladex isn't perfect in the first yr . Pain can still happen.

Look at your diet. Are you eating high amounts of certain foods like Soya, Avocado's, Peaches, check fodmap some food contain Estrogens and some harder to digest.

If the bleeding or pain gets worse see doctor and see if there's any changes around ovaries further days you should get a scan done.

It cannot be ruled out that a cyst or fibroid has bled.

With Endo if you eat large meal and have bowel adhesions it can trap food and gas increasing pain.

As long as you feel generally things are normal that's fine but if you feel it gets worse generally over several consecutive days seek the doctor or A&E.

With Endo it does give pain even on drugs like Zoladex but realise our bodies can need extra help. Large swelling on one side. Difficult peeing, bleeding, continuing pain, temperature require attention.

I hope you can see through yourself, understand your experience, making the sensible viewpoint on you. We all get stressed up around with Endo.

But sometimes we have go to A&E.

My best x
