Medication and pain

Hi all,

I’m quite new to this. I have been struggling with Endometriosis for some time and feel as tho it’s only getting worst.

I was given dienogest 2mg tablets last April 2024 they worked well however, I had mood swings, I gained weight and had constant 24hr boob pain. I stopped taking them around 2 months ago to see how I would manage off.

Well symptoms have come back strong, I have lower abdominal pain daily and sex has become really painful. On a plus note I have managed to loose a small amount of weight.

I’m really struggling on what to do next. Do I accept my symptoms were better taking dienogest and go back on, accept the side affects, or do I persist and put up with endo pain and intercourse pain knowing I’m not having side affects of medication.

Would really love to hear what other people have done, taking medication has always worried me but I guess if it helps I need to go on.

Thanks

Bit of a late reply but -

I was wondering if you have had a laparoscopy/ removal of endo already? If not, or if it was a while ago, this could help. If the Dienogest has caused you problems, have you asked to be referred back to Gynae? Have you had an MRI or ultrasound scan recently to identify where the endo is?

There is the option in the meantime of taking medication for pain relief rather than hormone medication. There are lots of options, possible combinations and your GP should be able to help with this.

Hope you are able to find some help. Xx
