Endo specialist appointment so overwhelmed 😭

Hello,

So I had my endo specialist appointment yesterday following my laparoscopy in October, I was so hopeful and so optimistic but I came away feeling worse than ever.

The conversation started with have you got kids, I just find this such an insensitive question! As the conversation developed I was shown photos from my operation and was told I have Deep infiltrating endo, Adenomyosis (this is new to me), a ruptured cyst, a severely damaged ureter as well as other things.

Next followed a really rubbish conversation he suggested I have the coil which I told him I’d had and I was hospitalised due to my body rejecting it, I told him I was on the Depo injection to which he replied ‘why’ I said your colleagues put me on it! He then said I should stop taking the Depo but I will be in a serious way where I won’t be able to get out of bed for weeks, so clearly not an option!

The appointment basically finished with he’s sending me for an MRI scan and has told me to read ESHRE online and go back to him with what decision I want for my treatment going forward.

I just want them to help me for a change I’m so overwhelmed and just feel so broken.

I’m so sorry for the long message and if none of it makes sense but I just need someone to talk to who understands right now 😭😭

Sorry to hear this, it sounds like a lot to process. Poor thing, take your time and think through the options, keep doing what is right for you. 🤗

Sounds awful. I'm sorry. If I were you I would try to get a second opinion elsewhere. I haven't had much help on the NHS as waiting lists have been a nightmare. My consultation with the NHS specialist wasn't a great experience either. I was left in tears as I found they weren't understanding, asking me personal questions similar to yourself. I eventually received a contact from someone who highly recommended a really great doctor and surgeon who believes in non invasive surgery in London. I plan to get a second opinion myself as I am in the early stages of my diagnoses. Please try not to let any doctor make you feel bad. Always listen to your gut feeling! Us women need to start demanding better care. About time!

I agree with the previous posts, you need to read up, take your time with this decision and do what you feel is right.

There is no one size fits all with this illness!

I often read these threads and think that the Drs are under so much pressure that for many a good bed side manner has been squeezed out!

Read though a few of the ‘hysterectomy or not posts’ and see how you feel. Talk to trusted friends and really focus on what life would be like if you had surgery and what it would be like without it.

If you do go down the route of surgery, do make sure to ask the impact of not stopping medication before surgery. I was on HRT (I was 50 at the time) and was offered a last min operation. Because the HRT was not out of my body I needed daily 28 stomach injections!

Sending you a virtual hug 🌸
