Any tips for diagnosis of endo?

Hi everyone, I hope you guys can help.

For the past 7 years I have been going back and forth between doctors, one gynaecologist, hospitals and scans and can’t seem to get any further. Back in April this year, a scan found a few cysts on one of my ovaries, and this had grown when I had a rescan in October. The doctors advised that if the cyst was there after another rescan, they would remove it and look for any other signs of endo. I have had that rescan today, and the cyst has apparently gone. This just feels like I’m stepping right back to the start and I’m unsure how to move forward with getting diagnosed. I have had multiple pain reliefs given, and been on various types of contraception but none seem to work. My symptoms are worsening despite the cyst going by itself.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to progress with diagnosis through a doctor. Is there any way of me requesting specific actions to be taken or do I have to just take the doctors advice? If anyone could help me through this tough time it would be great, I just don’t really know where to go from here.

Thank you🩷

Hi Jess, I had cysts that turned out to be cycle related which also disappeared by themselves.

I’m not sure if you’re at GP or hospital gyne stage but take a diary, physical one which details dates and symptoms. They take this much more seriously than just your word which is ridiculous.

Can I ask if scans have all just been ultrasound? I had seven years worth also, done by various uneducated people who all said everything was fine when it wasn’t. You could do with an MRI, again it needs to be reviewed by someone with a specialism or interest in endometriosis.

It’s so hard (like finding a needle in the haystack) getting a consultant to listen and actually take the correct next steps. Just don’t drop it, stay on their case. They absolutely go no scans all fine off you go but it’s their job to find and treat the cause not send you away. X
