HELP!

can anyone please help! I had a full hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and on Sunday night I started leaking a lot of clear fluid with a yellowy/pink tinge. I feel absolutely fine I’m myself no fever no pain. I tried to book in with my GP they offered me January, I then tried my hospital and they said I would have to go to A&E and wait to be checked (this seems like a waste of peoples time)

I am still leaking the fluid but only seems to get worse when I strain. I do have to mention the day I started I was struggling with constipation.

I have done some research and few suggest this could be lymphatic leakage. Has anyone else post hysterectomy had this happen? Do I need to go get checked or will this be ok.

Thanks so much

:)

Hi there. Were you given a number to call to contact the ward you were treated on at discharge? If so, I’d try that.

If you Google for NHS hysterectomy recovery, they do say discharge is normal for up to six weeks after, and there is also info on when you should contact a GP.

Hi,

I did contact the gynae unit and they said I could go and get checked out but it is an emergency service and it would be a wait. The nurse there said she wasn’t sure what it was but was positive that I wasn’t in pain or had. Fever.

I tried to get in with my gp to be offered an appointment in January.

Thanks for you reply.

I started having a yellowish discharge at about week 4 which gradually turned more blood coloured then stopped at about week 6. It coincided with the stitches on my belly starting to break down so I put it down to internal stitches starting to dissolve. I contacted the nurse at the hospital who said it was fine. I also searched the hystersisters.com forum and other people had experienced similar. There was very little information about post hysterectomy recovery out there apart from very general basics (not helped by us all being different, different rates of recovering, different things found) and a struggle to get any NHS aftercare.

Thank you!

Yes I completely agree no one really tells you what can potentially happen and what’s ok and what’s not. I feel fine but really wanted to hear if anyone else had any similar symptoms for a bit of reassurance.

Thank you

:)

I would use lactulose I've found it good for constipation post hysterectomy. I find my stomach more uncomfy if I can't go to the toilet properly. I'm 10 weeks post op still swollen still recovering. I use peppermint tea too. 😊
