I have severe endometriosis, it is deep infiltrating and has been found on both my ovaries, my ligaments, my bowel, my POD, my bladder and other places.
I suffer so badly with excruciating pain, fatigue, nausea, painful bowel movements, painful urination, and frequent urination.
I have been told I require another surgery to get rid of the endometriosis off my bowel and bladder and other places.
I need to make a decision whether I’m better getting everything removed, a hysterectomy, or if that won’t help. Please can anyone who has had a hysterectomy advise if it has helped with symptoms or not?
my life is being ruined by endometriosis so I just need some relief

I had a hysterectomy with full pelvic clearance as well as excision at the same time. I am 26 days post surgery & I feel way better than I did before surgery. However, I was advised full pelvic clearance would be the best option for me. I am 47 so being reasonably close to menopause & my family is already complete were factors also involved in the decision. I also had robotic laparoscopic surgery so recovery has been way better then anything I could have imagined
Hi i had lap surgery in jan where i was tokd severe endo. After my mri in march ive got secere endo, in POD, adeo, endemetriomas, fibroids so my best option is a full pelvic hysterectomy. Im 38 today and signed the forms in may and told 12-18 month wait.I also have 2 kids. 15 and nearly 21 so my family is complete, im scared about major surgery but i need my life back, constant pain and bloating is awful.
Ive been on zoledex for 9 months now and that helps with the pain, not as bad but the menopause side effects are hard.
I honestly cant wait for surgery and try get ny life back, ive felt so lost this year and had a awful year last year waiting to be diagnosed
The problem is if you wait then the endometriosis progresses and you'll be like me - went in to have hysterectomy only fir them to abandon it as lesions were affecting my bowel and I'd need a resection. If it's glued but your bowel us free then I'd go for it, but remember it's not a cure. Endo can come back after a hysterectomy and you must make sure that you have the right hormones to support you (natural progesterone particularly) post op x
Hi, I’m now happily almost two years post full abdominal Hysterectomy bikini cut ( not laparoscopic) with bilateral oophorectomy. Previously I had adenomyosis, endo on ovaries/fallopian tubes and fibroids. I was in constant pain, heavy bleeding, bowel issues etc. For me a hysterectomy was a no brainer, I wanted everything out, as my life had become unbearable. Seriously,I have no regrets, I feel great and haven't had any painkillers since my recovery period, yay.
Hi I'd stay away from a hysterectomy as it doesn't cure endometriosis and can come with it's own complications hence why I'm avoiding having one. Sending you a safe hug too 🤗
