So… im coming off hrt after being on it 16 years due to being diagnosed with endo , and so im going through menopause like symtoms at the age of 58.
My gynocologist has also said i may need to consider going on Gnrh analogue, which i really dont want to, due to all the horrible side effects .
My grandma had severe oesteoparosis which left her paralysed from the waist down, and also my mother has is, and i know this medication is very harsh on the bones, so i really dont want to go on it.
Has anyone on here been on it? and what are their experiences on it?

I'm on it and it's the only thing to stop me bleeding. I feel good on it when it works but I still bleed a bit and I still have a period. In my experience it's different for everyone but why are you going on it if you are in menopause? These injections stop hormones but yours will have already stopped haven't they? Is this because endo makes its own estrogen? I'm supposed to be on it with addback HRT until menopause. I don't think I could take it without HRT as my mental health would be awful. I haven't come across any woman your age on it. What's the rationale?
Hi i read your posts and it sounds like you've had a he'll of a time. Have you read about progesterone therapy? Good Facebook page called Balancing Hormones which might help you x
Hi there sunset 😊 xYes one of the other gynocologists suggested progesterone therapy, but then the consultant gynocologist said it wasn't suitable for me, and that I should just come off hrt.
Also because our adrenal glands, fat and the endometriosis itself making oestrogen, and as I appear to quite a lot of endo, I may need to go on gnrh analogue.
Did the consultant say why progesterone therapy wouldn't be suitable. I would do some research if I was you before going on zoladex or prostrap particularly with osteoporosis being in your family. It's worth a try and it's fascinating x
Hi I'm on it and i was advised to take vitamin d, walking, and light weight training. I was asked if I eat cheese and drink milk i said yes. The gynecologist said nothing to worry about, but they are giving me a yearly dexa scan for reassurance. It's the best thing for me hoping ti stay on it as long as possible. There are laddies here who when asked for advice regarding the injection that say they've been on it over eight years with no issues. Hope this helps, sending you a safe hug x🤗❤️
The injection is to put you in a chemical menopause. I'm puzzled why you would need to have it in addition to stopping HRT when you are already naturally in menopause. That makes no sense to me. Surely they should be seeing the effect stopping HRT has first?
Personally, I find the 'care' offered to older endo sufferers is poor. Anything to avoid surgery to remove the wretched stuff.
well ive done a lot of research on endo now, and as a result, im going to be pushing for surgery.
I wrote a long email to my gynocologist, stating all my concerns etc.
I ended the letter with my Bsc (hons) psychology title and as a result have been referred for a pelvic and abdominal MRI.
The fact that she knows im used to studying in depth, should stop her trying to gaslight me, ( well im hoping) when i state what ive learnt about the condition and the effectivness of different treatments.
