first gynaecologist appointment after 2 year wait

Hi all,

After 2 long years of waiting I finally got to see a gynaecologist about my ongoing issues. I have been diagnosed with adenomyosis and referred due to suspected endometriosis.

I had my IUD switched to mirena and thankfully the bleeding issues I’ve had have stopped. However my pelvic pain / pressure, restless legs, fatigue, cramps and pain in back passage continues. I began to describe this to my specialist, at my long awaited appointment, who seemingly cut me short and said that the treatment I’m on should treat my issues so it’s very unlikely I’m suffering from endo. She’s referring me for MRI however I’ve come away very very frustrated and deflated. I don’t feel listened to at all and come away feeling like I don’t know my own body.

I know I’m not a doctor and I know I’m most certainly not an expert on endo or adenomyosis but I know how I feel. I feel at a loss of what my next step should be any help would be greatly appreciated.

An MRI is a good outcome. I was told for years I didn't have endo and then at 51 they tried to do a hysterectomy and couldn't as they found stage 4 endo. You know your body. Have the MRI mine showed my endo very clearly x I have restless leg too - it's awful. I can't have the coil so I'm on zoladex for bleeding. Good luck x

I don’t think your Gynae is any expert on endometriosis either, as you were describing endo symptoms and they were dismissed because you have a coil in place. The coil does not cure everything (nothing does). I guess wait and see how you get on with the MRI, but if you are still not being taken seriously I think you should ask for a second opinion, preferably with someone with a special interest in endo. Xx
