Confused and need advise

Hello, it took 8 years for diagnosis of endometriosis. Already had children and decided it was better to have a hysterectomy, however left my ovaries to prevent early menopause. After the surgery I was told if I had left it any longer I would of had to a colostomy bag, as the endo was attached in and out side of my womb. Had amazing recovery and have felt the best, however, 18 months post op, everything has gone backwards. I thought relief would of been longer. Now I have to go back through the system again. Has anyone had this experience? Has anyone experienced bowel related endometriosis?

Hi, sorry to hear you’re having problems again. I have stage 4 rectovaginal endometriosis. I had surgery in 2019 and am having a hysterectomy and ovary removal in a couple of weeks. I had a while with much reduced symptoms and then it’s gradually got worse again. My consultant told me this was to be expected and that I would need further surgery. I’ve been on decapeptyl injections for about three years which help a lot but I’ve noticed in the last year my bowel symptoms being worse.

Hi. I had my hysterectomy because of adenomyosis, but also have endo. I'm almost 3 years post-hysto, but my endo symptoms started to return about a year ago, and I'm currently waiting for a date to have another excision.

I kind of expected it as my consultant did explain quite clearly that a hysterectomy isn't a cure for endo 😭

hunni you would need to have the ovaries removed to stop the hormones from

Producing estrogen but even then endo can still come back as it has its on nerve supply etc . It’s one of those issues where there is no cure. Also I think the endo grows back in the bowel quite quickly. I had surgery five months ago and my bowel endo symptoms have come back already where I’m so constipated again it gets stuck in my rectum and I can’t push it out. I nearly pass out trying . :( or I get severe diarrhea. Trust your gut you know your body best. Recto virginal endo is the worst stage of endo . I wanted a hysterectomy but they said as I had a frozen pelvis it wasn’t possible as they also didn’t know whether I would need a bowel resection. My op was three hours long . Sorry your getting symptoms again nothing is ever clear cut when endo reaches the last stage even with excision you can never be sure . They said they had removed all visible endo but I’m

Bleeding in bowel motions again only five months later . I’ve been however put on this list that they keep track of my illness for the next five years xx and on the endo research data base. Xx
