After my laparoscopy on Wednesday which showed no signs of endometriosis I have decided to book an appointment with a specialist. I want to get a second opinion on what might be causing my symptoms.
I just wanted to ask if anyone has had a similar experience where they’ve been told nothing has been found, but at a later date something has?
I am considering coming off my contraceptive pill as I have been on it for over half my life (at least 14 years). I don’t know what my cycle is like without it. I remember how bad it was before starting the pill and it does scare me that I may be going back to that. However, if I let the doctors see how bad it is maybe they’ll listen?

Had my first lap by a general gynae in 2019, nothing seen but moved to a specialist and he said Adenomyosis was clearly present. Second lap in 2022 after no improvement, patches of Endo seen and a nodule over my ureter - nothing removed as not skilled enough. Third lap Feb 2024 and I had widespread stage 3 Endo which was robotically excised by an Endo specialist.
I just wanted to give an update on my situation. This evening I saw a private consultant to discuss my concerns following my recent laparoscopy. He was so understanding and listened to everything I had to say. I left the consultation in tears as it’s felt like such a long time coming. He has agreed to perform another laparoscopy and did advise that the conraceptive pill can sometimes mask the effects of endometriosis. Therefore, he wants me to have a break from this before the surgery.
Im shocked I wasn’t a asked to stop taking my pill before my procedure under the NHS 🙁
