hey

I have a 12.5cm cyst on my left ovary as well as endo in the bowel. I’ve been told that I could be waiting 14-16 months for surgery !!!

Has anyone else had to wait this long?

My cyst is HUGE, and just feel like I’m being left to suffer

Hey,

The NHS wait times atm are horrific. I would recommend doing an access request through PALS for all your medical records/images associated with the endo. Once you have this you can read NICE and RCOG guidance on endometriosis. These guidelines include symptoms and timescales clinicians should investigate/refer for/treat for.

If your local hospital is in breach of these (I.e. not referring you, not completing the recommended investigations, no completing treatment within recommended time frame) complete a PALS complaint and quote these guidelines.

For extra oomph you can refer your case to the CQC and get a reference number. If you add this into your PALS complaint I guarantee things will move quicker.

I was on the 'urgent surgical endometriosis list' for >40 weeks (target is 18 weeks) I did the above and miraculously had surgery booked for the week following the complaint.

I waited 2 years from diagnosis on MRI for my lap, they didn’t remove anything as needed colorectal input (despite recognising this on the initial mri) and have been told it could be another 18 months for the colorectal joint surgery on the nhs. As I’ve had one lap so am classed as receiving treatment despite no excision taking place. The system is broken.

I’ve been a midwife for over a decade. I’m so sad that the nhs isn’t there for me after I’ve put my life and soul in to it.
