blue badge

has anyone managed to get a blue badge? I have applied twice, sent all my documents hospital letters, meds I’m on etc and still it’s a no because my disability is hidden and I can walk. I have Endometriosis, recently had op on elbow and due shoulder surgery and yet another lap. I am going to reply with the list of Endo symptoms that can and does leave us bed bound sometimes. X

Hi

I’ve got one probably based more on the chronic pain. I can walk but it still hurts all the time. Using a stick makes no difference to abdominal pain. Walking too far makes it worse.

If you get PIP it should be easy to get the badge.

🤞 for you

You might need an endorsement from your gynaecologist? I'm not certain, but it's worth a try

I don't have one for my Endo, but my daughter has one for severe heart disease and Autism and I did the application. The key thing is to have in mind why is it essential that I have a car close by, and what makes my situation completely different to someone else with some mobility issues because the threshold is high.

In my daughter’s case she can walk just fine but I said we needed a car close for when she has a meltdown and also for times when her heart function isn't as good, we need to limit how far she walks. I've applied for blue bad he twice based on this and been successful.

I know this is different but I hope it helps? The diagnosis alone won't get you the badge, or the symptoms. You need to explain why a badge is essential.

Hello

Unfortunately as you are being classed as being able to walk then you will automatically be refused a blue badge. Sadly if you describe the symptoms and say you are left bed bound at times, I think they will say no again as they will presume you don’t go out so don’t need to park as your bed bound. It’s a vicious circle. But yes we do still need to go out, we still need to go to medical appointments , shop, take kids to school etc, all whilst doubled over in pain. Is it via your council you are applying? I had my what was then DLA taken away ( not Endo related, disability issues) so lost my automatic blue badge entitlement, I applied direct to council and had it reinstated. The rules are quite strict and Endo sadly doesn’t come anywhere into the listing for applicable conditions. My late husband was dying with a chest condition that meant he struggled to breathe when walking, he was even refused a badge on the basis he could stop walking then carry on, he never got one, flatly refused.

Hi, this is truly shocking! Then it makes me think, well, why don't they just say that you could have put him in a wheel chair, would they have given it to you then? And then, really if the wheel chair in many cases removes the struggle of walking, then just don't give anyone a badge.... :-/

hi. I got one as I can’t walk far due to dizziness and wooziness as well as pain and fatigue. They are my main ending symptoms but I also had supporting evidence from when I appealed esa and won.

I got a blue badge due to chronic pain plus fibromyalgia and autism I do get pip. My dad had to fight for me to get blue badge but he didn’t get one and he has chronic arthritis and walked with a stick prior to his surgery. The autism as I don’t like crowded places it means if I get highly anxious I can get away quickly. I do get with endo chronic pain not being

Able to walk far due to restless legs hip and groin pain litterally limping to walk anywhere it sucks the questions are biased and the different councils have to decline so many applicants it’s the same for pip as well life isn’t fair when living in pain being bed ridden at times sometimes the questions are written to trip you up all

Hidden illnesses are tricky to get any help for them

It’s Easier to see physical disabilities or has always been the case . Another trick would be when applying for pip etc just write down how you are on the worst days . I didn’t get pip to begin with as I would put when I’m well I can wash and dress or do things when I’m ill I can’t . It’s a trick so just put down worst case scenario . I would advise you to go to citizens advise bureau as they have people that are good with the terminology they can fight for you to get one . Hope

This helps abit
