Stage 4 - Kissing Ovaries - Surgery NI Options

Hi all! I have stage 4 endo with kissing ovaries. Age 37 and have been trying to conceive for 7 years. Never been pregnant. Surgery wise I have only ever had a diagnostic lap 7 years ago. Never any endo removed. I had ivf back in February but they only managed to get 2 eggs and they were poor quality. I was advised to get surgery. Since then I have seen 2 different consultants, one based in Antrim and another in Belfast. Both willing to operate. But both want to do it through the nhs rather than privately. I know in NI we have no true endo specialists but both of these consultants appear to have good training and both are members of BGSE. The one in Belfast is a bit harder to see because he is a different trust to the one I am in. I really need a surgeon to go in and remove endo from my ovaries and separate them. Has anyone had that done in NI? Or did anyone head over to England to do this? If so where? Bit scared with the travel element if I had to travel far but willing to do anything for the best results.

Hello, I've had surgery in NI and I also went to Birmingham to the endo clinic there. I've only had one surgery on the NHS, my first. After that, the wait times were so long and I couldn't bear the pain. I was on the waiting list for IVF and the Dr said it was better to have the excision surgery beforehand because it would be much easier to extract the eggs if the ovaries were freed up... I ended up going to England because after the second surgery the Dr said it was worse than he thought and he couldn't do any more than what he had done. I needed a colorectal surgeon too because of bowel involvement. I didn't get any relief after either of the surgeries. However the chance for IVF came up after covid and we went for it. It was successful thankfully. We know we are so lucky. I do believe that having the surgeries was so important in getting it to work. If you need any information private message me! X

There is only one BSGE centre in NI. Be aware that any medical professional from nurses up can be a member of the BSGE.
