I was finally diagnosed in Feb 24 after suffering since I was 11yo. I made a PIP claim and was denied. Is anyone else in the same boat? I have multiple chronic illnesses and I've still been scored 0 for everything. Accessor marked me down for "pottering around my flat" during the call. Im working remotely part time atm and this was also mentioned even tho we all know pip isnt an OUT OF WORK benefit. I was unemployed all of last year while fighting for surgery. They really are sickos. Is there anyway to get PIP without notes from GPs and Dr's? Mine seem to be ableist and I do not feel comfortable asking them for help. Any advise appreciated

I think they would need to see supporting evidence of the impact of your condition/s on your function and mobility. Have you looked at the criteria online? It might be worth asking the gynae nurse and GP for a supporting statement in addition to providing medical reports which detail the severity of your illnesses. I don't receive PIP but have supported someone with another condition to apply for it. We had to supply proof of eligibility.
I have multiple illnesses and got denied too. The report as to why i got denied was a joke, said i walk 20minutes to work when i told them its a max of 20 steps. Said i wasn’t eligible cause i drive a car?
I would both look online and also go to Citizen’s Advice . Believe they have much experience tackling unfair PIP decisions. Often it’s a case of appealing and carefully resubmitting evidence with the “right language “.
Hi. Sorry about your PIP experience. They always try to deny claims even when you give them evidence. They score you on how the illness affects your daily living,so you have to explain how your worst days affect your life.
Try getting on Benefits and Work website, they have a lot of invaluable guides that helped me when I was given zero points for everything.
Yes I was refused too. I had stage 4 Endo for years, many surgeries, many treatments, collapsing from anaemia etc. after 20 years I had a hysterectomy last October. They found my bowel stuck to my womb, had to cut the bowel to free it, then perform an emergency colostomy operation to save my life. It was 50/50 I’d make it. I need more surgery this year and may have up to a year recovery. Due to physical disability I need help to do bag changes. According to the interviewer they agreed I need help with toileting as they called it in the report but then said I had nothing wrong with me! Totally contradictory. Waste of time trying to fight it in my view. They think we’re fine and making it up sadly. Unfortunately you do need medical notes/evidence as back up, perhaps consultant rather than GP might help. I put medical evidence from operation in from both gynaecology and bowel surgeon and still got refused. Good luck
Most people - over 70% - get it awarded when they appeal.
Also you need a charity like Citizens Advice to help you complete the forms.
People because they are educated think they can complete them on their own but unless you are a disability advocate used to complete PIP forms successfully for people you don't know what the DWP are looking for.
I had to threaten them with a tribunal before they awarded me PIP. It was shocking. I asked for a copy of the assessor’s report and she had consistently lied the whole way through it. I also requested a copy of my medical records from my GP and any hospital that had treated me (which there is no charge for) so I could send them a copy of anything and everything that might be relevant. I also paid £250 for a consultation at a private clinic - a lot of money but the report he gave me really helped. I know it seems daunting but fight this. Don’t let them get away with it.
