newbie - just diagnosed need some help

hi everyone, first time on here. Yesterday I was diagnosed with endometriosis and I’m feeling all out of sorts! I had a private ultrasound a few weeks ago where it showed I have an endometrioma in my right ovary, and yesterday I saw a private gynaecologist. My reasons for going private was that my go just wanted to put me on the pill without any checks. The consultant looked at my ultrasound and did a very painful examination. Both of these along with my symptoms means he’s diagnosed me with endometriosis. He said he thinks it’s gone on to my bladder and potentially my bowel because of my symptoms, what he felt and how painful the examination was. I don’t know what I need help with but I feel like I missed so many questions. Here are a few..

I get so much pain in my right hip and this is the side the endometrioma is - do you think this is linked or down to my fibromyalgia and hyper mobility? It gets much worse during ovulation.

Have any of you been diagnosed without a laparoscopy? He said because I have finished my family we don’t necessarily need to do one yet

can you only have an endometrioma with endometriosis and does this mean it’s stage IV? From what I’ve read it sounds like it

thanks for your time

Sorry you are having to deal with quite a lot of information at once and it is probably overwhelming. But here’s some more,

If you have endo on your bladder and bowel, you should be seen at a specialist endometriosis centre (BSGE). You can find the nearest one to you if you look online. There are some private centres too. You might want to check if your consultant works at any of these centres ( you can look online) and if he has the right qualifications for treating severe endo,

Has your consultant suggested a course of treatment for you such as hormones, given he does not want to do a laparoscopy? Are you seeing him again? I am a bit surprised at not doing a laparoscopy just because fertility is no longer an issue for you; you could have endo excised during a lap and that might lead to an improvement in your symptoms.

Has your consultant written to your GP? Your GP can refer you to a BSGE under the NHS.

Hope this is not just confusing you more xx

Thanks for your reply. Yes he’s recommended hormones and the letter is currently being written to my gp. It’s not that he said I definitely don’t need a lap but he said start on the hormones and work my way to it. I’m also worried that the endometrioma is there!

Do you think it can be diagnosed on bladder and bowel without actually seeing it? He said from my exam and symptoms he thinks it’s on there.

I will look in to that - thank you! I think I feel worried about the bladder and bowel
