Second opinion- advice please

Hi

This is a bit of a long one so I do apologise.

So over the last two years my Gynae has been anything but helpful and will not do surgery on me since it was discovered I had endo when my appendix burst .

I had the coil fitted but that went for a swim so I point blank do not want another one fitted. I had to have surgery to get it removed and that took months to get sorted ( another story )

I have been told I have been on the depo for too long so I need to go back on the pill for a year . Prostap is causing anxiety and pretty bad depression symptoms so i have another three months of this till she decides if it is worth it or not.

In my last apt she basically said that I need to either have another coil fitted before surgery will be considered, then mentioned my weight will impact surgery. I am 8 stone 5ft 2 . I have been told by my Dr that this a healthier weight than 6 stone as i was 2 years ago.

I would like a second opinion but how do i go about this ? is it simply get in touch with the dr and ask to be transferred to BSGE centre ? Can you transfer yourself ?

Sorry I would like to complain about my consultant but don't know how to go about this either

Thank you all in advance for your help

I would put a complaint in to your local PALS and in the letter ask for a 2nd opinion. I am also having to do a complaint for poor treatment. I'm seeking a 2nd from Harley Street x

Re the BSGE referral, you need to meet the criteria (which you can find online) to be eligible for treatment there. I would agree you would benefit from a second opinion and also your current Gynae sounds very unhelpful. Your GP can refer you for a second opinion.

If you have a look online as well at the NICE guidelines on the treatment of endo ( if you are in England ) you might find them helpful as I am not sure your current Gynae is following them.

Not what you're looking for?
