mirena coil withdrawal

Hi . it’s been 8 weeks since having the mirena coil removed and I’ve felt awful since …extreme fatigue to the point where I’m struggling to do anything or go anywhere , body hurts all over , extremely bloated ( looks like I’m pregnant) and feeling quite depressed and I was itching all over ( luckily the itching only lasted 3 days and has gone now )

Does anyone know how long the withdrawals last ?

Has anyone suffered the same symptoms since having their mirena coil out ?

Thanks

Tina

These sound like peri menopause symptoms lovely. The itching is usually down to too much or too little estrogen but fatigue and aches and pains are very much peri xxx

Hi thanks for your reply , yeah it could be Perimenopause symptoms as iam 49

I’m not on hrt at the moment as I tried it whilst I had the mirena fitted and it made my endometriosis worse so stopped taking it

Thanks

Tina

You might need progesterone only. The coil is synthetic progestin which will make it worse. You need utrogestan x

Hi I did try utrogestan on its own and it gave me really bad cramps and headaches , my. body couldn’t tolerate it

I seem to be very sensitive to hrt 🥲🥲

X

Did you try it for long? Apparently when we take progesterone on it's own it causes what some women call "kick back " estrogen until it settles. Worth looking into. I feel your pain. I have stage 4 endo and I'm incredibly sensitive to estrogen. I'm on zoladex to put me in chemical menopause which is working at the moment x

Hi no I didn’t take it for long , maybe I could try it again for longer and see if it settles down

I still don’t feel well, my itching came back last night and I’ve felt weak and very breathless last dews days ( feels like anaemia ) I really am feeling fed up with it all🥲🥲 x

Are you on HRT?

Yes. I had my coil removed in January after having one since 2000. I have all those symptoms. Infact, I am struggling as I lost appetite and started having a racing heart and night sweats. I am 56 so had decided to have it to control menopause symptoms. I hope you feel better. I find going for a short walk helps but I the struggle is real. I have been feeling very low and my tummy hurts too

Hi thanks for your reply

I wish I lost my appetite as I could do with losing a few pounds ( I’ve definitely put weight on since the mirena)

I had mine fitted to try help with endometriosis but had it removed due to side effects

Hopefully we will both feel better soon 🤞🤞
