I have been struggling with my period for years, with a lot of pain during it but also during ovulation, bowel movements etc. i was finally referred to a gynaecologist after my ultrasounds were all ok, who sent me to do an MRI. This was more than a month ago. They have not called me (I guess it is not urgent), but I can see in my records that the results say that I have both uterosacral ligaments thickened. However it also says in the conclusion that “there isn’t large plaques of deep infiltrating endometriosis or clear rectosigmoid involvement”.
i have talked to a advanced nurse practitioner today who said that it probably means that there is no endo, however he didn’t know how to explain another reason for the thickening of the uterosacral ligaments. Does anyone have experience with this? (These results and no endo, if that’s even an option?)’ i am asking because I dont have an appointment till September and they told me they cannot say anything on the phone…
thanks!

I have recently had a MRI scan, which reported probable endometriosis due to a number of things - one of them was thickened uterosacral ligaments. I think it’s a sign of chronic inflammation from endo. I’d have a read up and go in to your appointment prepared, symptom diary etc. don’t let them fob you off. Good luck xx
I had an mri and this has been reported on mine and they have said there might be endo and I had thickening of uterosacral ligaments and I’m having surgery in july. Like the last comment said, I would go in with a symptom diary and make sure they explain everything to your satisfaction. If you still aren’t sure then get a second opinion
A previous MRI showed my left uterosacral ligament was thickened. Most of my Endo found was on my left side and it’s also where most of my pain is. I have stage 3
I had an mri show thickened uterosacral ligaments and a follow up transvaginal ultrasound with a specialist saw deep endo on my uterosacral ligaments and also within vaginal vault (I’d had a hysterectomy) and that’s very close to the us ligaments.
