Endometriosis removed during c section?

TRIGGER - pregnancy. I know lots of people here struggle with infertility <3After years of infertility due to endo, I somehow have found myself pregnant! I am certain that my endo has returned after a lap in 2021 but had been holding off having another one because I'm worried about the amount of internal scar tissue. I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to have endo excised during a c-section on the NHS? I figure if they're already in there it would save having to have another operation which seems sensible to me but I know services are rarely sensible....

Any advice would be much appreciated. I have an appointment with my obstetrician next week and want to be prepared so I can advocate for myself.

Thank you.

Hello, congratulations on your lovely news! I took struggled with fertility and was lucky to have success with IVF and had y baby girl last year. I enquired about having a hysterectomy when I was having my section because I knew I needed it due to severe pain with adenomyosis. The consultants were massively opposed to it because delivering the baby was their only priority and they can't plan what will happen during the section. This was only what happened in my case, and what I asked for was different, so maybe not much help!! Good luck with the everything 🥰x

Hi, congratulations on your lovely news.

I enquired about this when i was pregnant in 2022 and they refused because they said it can cause complications, more blood loss, additional surgeon etc. However during my c-section, as they cut me open they couldnt read my baby because i had too many adhesions. The doctor had to bleep for a senior doctor who then came and careful cut some of my adhesions to reach the baby. Then had to use forceps in the c-section to pull her out.

This took an extra hour and another extra 45 mins to stitch me up. I ended up getting ill in the c-section with a lot of blood loss, low oxygen etc. Traumatic to say the least. Sorry not to scare you i did have a fairly large baby so that may have been a factor.

I think its best discussing with your consultant/midwife. All the best.
