Mirena and Exercise

Hi all - has anyone experienced bleeding after exercise with the Mirena?

I had mines fitted in November after surgery so it might still be settling but I have noticed a pattern that I bleed after I’ve been horse riding - every time now (I have lessons once a week). And with this bleed I do have some mild cramping. This spotting seems to be triggered by the riding and I’m not sure if this is normal or something to be concerned about?

I have had my coil checked multiple times recently and it’s always in place, strings visible and no issues that can be seen or felt during an exam or ultrasound.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I don’t want to give up my horse riding as it’s really the only thing that motivates me to get out the house at the moment 😔 I also don’t know whether to call it quits on the Mirena and have it removed…

Hi there.

I cannot comment on bleeding with the mirena but I do get bleeding with exercise sometimes and especially with strenuous exercise and also cramping. Does it settle afterwards and the only other suggestion is whether to get the mirena position checked? Hope this helps. X

It’s so strange - I get cramping and bleeding for a day or so afterwards. It does settle but it takes a little while.

I’ve had the placement of the Mirena checked a few times and I’m always told it’s in place and okay 🤷‍♀️ very unsure what to do

I am not sure what else to advise, I ended up giving up running as it caused pain, bleeding and cramping. It sucks but I try and do other things instead.
