The coil mostly acts locally within the uterus and it is common to take a systemic progestin at the same time. But it is unlikely to be the coil that has increased the size of your endometrioma. Endometriomas are usually a sign of deep rectovaginal endo. Have you had an experts scan to.look for deep endo?
Hi thank you for replying.Ok that makes sense. Hopefully taking the pill as well will help more.
I have had mri's plus surgery already to remove an endometrioma plus endometriosis in other areas last year.
The hospital discharged me back to my gp after that. I think i will do some research today for a specialist within my area and see if the gp will refer me to them instead. Is that how it works?
Yes i am and i have had a look on the bsge website and my local hospital is on there so i will call my gp today and ask to be referred to the dr whose name is on there. He wasnt who i saw originally when i had my surgery last year.
The surgeon who i had last time has refused to operate on me again so i already know it wont be him anyway.
Since the summer I am currently on both the Mirena coil and taking desogestrel. It has helped with pain after a flare up of symptoms, although I already wasn’t bleeding due to the Mirena coil (had it fitted a couple of years prior during a laparoscopy) Hope it helps. Best wishes.
I’m not using both but I’m taking desogestrel. I get a lot of light to medium spotting which is unpredictable and relatively frequent although the frequency does seem to be reduced recently( taking since April) . I turned down the coil because it is only local to the uterus and may cause more pain. I have been virtually painless on desogestrel so far so hopefully it will help you too and reduce bleeding in conjunction with the coil x
I do worry about blood loss but it’s been months and I’ve been ok and it’s totally worth it vs. the immense pain I’d be in instead. I am always tired though so maybe I’ll check my iron levels.
Do take care and let us know how you fare with using both. Good luck x
