I have no fever, no redness around the incision site just the dark red (blood) in the middle. Should I call my surgeon? or just it wait till it heals. I will change the bandage, should I use dry gauze? Ive read a lot of tips here in the forum but I dont know what to use. Any tips? Thank you so much!!

Help! is this infected? 8days post op Lap. Dr. said to take off the bandage 2 days post op. But I waited till today and i saw this.
Nurse here 😊…I can’t see any sign of infection, the dark blood in the middle is just likely old blood that’s probably in the process of scabbing over. It looks nice and clean. I think infections are more about how you feel. I’ve had one post op and I felt dreadful, it was having the flu with a hangover, horrible. A dry fresh bandage or gauze should do the trick xx
If you’re worried then I’d call up your GP surgery and ask to speak to a nurse, they can have a look and clean it up for you. But it looks fine to me!
Hi, if your still worried and can't stop thinking about it then definitely just get the GP/ Nurse to look at it. Sometimes the reassurance from a medical professional is what's needed. Don't feel guilty. I had my lap about 4 weeks ago now, my umbilical incision was weeping slightly and smelled foul so I had the GP look at it and he actually thought it looked fine but took a swab anyway which came back showing I did have an infection so was given antibiotics. Best to get it checked if worried x
