Does anyone else get upper middle back pain at certain times before their period? I get awful ache from between shoulder blades to bra strap level sometimes before my period. I'm not sure if it's connected to all the other side effects or not. Thank you ☺️

Hi!I used to get it a lot. The interpretation of my gynaecologist is referred pain from gastritis. Do you take painkillers before your period? Sometimes is also caused by hormones, in our case... Anyway, you can try avoid those foods that exacerbate stomach acidity on those days, and take some natural gastroprotector like aboca neobianacid. It helped me to manage, I hope it helps you as well.

Thank you so much for replying it's so uncomfortable and my GP just passed it over when I have queried it before. I thought it was just me. I will try those I had no clue what it was but it's always before my bleed starts.

Hi, yes I do and my gp is like yeah whatever probably acid but it only appears just before and during my period but I'm not sure what causes it.

Thank you so much for replying I was beginning to think it was just me. This forum is so reassuring when you have these odd things that you put up with for years but get no answers for. I'm using a wheat bag and ibuprofen but nothing really takes it off. GPs don't seem to know anything about this do they. X

I have this really shocking upper middle back pain before and during my period. y specialist thinks it is diaphragmic endo which really makes sense. I have pain inside and under my ribs too but the main thing is it feels like I have something about the size of a broom handle poking into my back. I've had it for 5 yaers and it's getting worse so I'm off to see specialist soon. When I have I'll tell you what he says but I know diaphragmic endo is very hard to see on scans so it will probably be another op....Adenomysiosis which often accompanies endo also causes terrible back pain. I have a vital hernia from the diaphragmic endo so there is acid too.

Thank you for replying blimey honestly it gets worse doesn't it. I have Adenomyosis too I feel like something is poking in my back too it's very uncomfy isn't it. I've had this for quite a lot of years too probably too long to remember when it started you just get used to trying to put up with it don't you. Hope you get some help with everything. I know the NHS is stretched but it's very hard when your in pain isn't it.

Yes, sorry I can't tell you anything cheerier. I also have gallstones so it's hard to tell what is causing the pain adeno, endo, gallstones or the hernia. But I am certain it is endo related as it attacks when I have my period.

I'm actually on the POP which has really helped a lot by stopping my period for years but I was sick two days ago and must have missed my pill dose due to that. I gave up on the NHS for this a while ago, I had an operation with a NHS surgeon who wasn't a specialist and who only took out a little endo but made a huge mess and scarred me badly inside. I have gone private since then and even then you need to really research any doctor you see, even lots of gynaes don't know much about treating endo. There are some great NHS gynae surgeons too but with the NHS you just tend to get whoever is local whether they know much about it or not.

I have a great specialist now and will see him in two weeks , I think he'll do a scan of my chest area and upper abdomen. I'll let you know what he says as if your symptoms are the same the cause could be. But try the POP pill it his helped me alot with the pain but sadly it doesn't cure anything. Good luck and keep your chin up. xx

Thank you, good luck with everything. I've just come off the Pop I bled continuously with it stuck it for three months with double dose and stopped I'm back on the decapeptyl jab again. I've had my gallbladder removed that's an awful pain too gallstones really hope you get sorted. X

That's a shame, it really helped me although I did bleed the whole time too to start with but I think these hormonal things work so differently on different people. It's interesting that you have gallbladder issues too, the gastro guy I saw about that said that having high levels of oestrogen often cause gallstones and that is exactly what endo does. The high levels of oestrogen seem to affect everything, it's the gift. no one wants that keeps on giving. Did the removal of the gallbladder help? my gastro guy was thinking about taking mine out but was nervous as I've already had two lots of abdominal surgery for endo, he said every surgery creates more adhesions.....

Yes it took all the gall bladder pain away. I have had quite a few surgeries too but the gallbladder op was key hole and not near my other surgeries but obviously I had to sign for more nastys due to my other surgery. I can't have oestrogen my migraines are dreadful with hormones and for me no oestrogen no migraines. Happy days on one count. X

Hi, potential endo on bladder and bowels here 👋

My symptoms have been getting worse over the past few months and I sometimes find new pains everyday if you know what I mean? One is back pain!

I have been researching it and found that common back pain for endo is lower back pain but I have really suffered with constant upper back pain right before my right shoulder blade and it is agony! I have mentioned it to my GP but of course it could just be strain or acid i'm not sure but it is interesting how other people suffer with it like me and i'm not crazy! I have been referred to gyne about potential endo so I am definitely going to bring this up and it will be interesting to see what they have to say! x

Thank you for sharing you just put up with it don't you and think it's only you!! It's so uncomfy for a few days then it's gone very strange isn't it. I have had it for years now. GPs don't acknowledge it at all. X
