The only thing that eases it for me is Oramorph and paracetamol I try to put up with it for days then have a respite with the meds. It's not easy but nothing takes it away. I feel for you it's very exhausting isn't it.
Thanks very much for your useful advice, yes I agree it is exhausting, my ribs have been killing every day for months. I have huge sympathy for anyone dealing with this it's a horrible!
I suffer with extreme rib pain on my right side. (It's high up. Bra strap goes over the area) I strap a hot water bottle to me. Its about the only thing that gives me some form of relief, or distraction. Feeling like I've been beat up with a baseball bat everevery month isn't fun, so I feel for you. CurrentlyI'm on zoladex to see if sshutting off my periods will help. Its early days but a3rd surgery isn't on the cards as of yet. I take codeine and memefanimic acid too but neither do much for my ribs. Sorry I can't offer much else x
Thanks very much for your advice, I wonder if rib pain could be a symptom of thoratic endometriosis? Have you ever had this investigated? I'm having surgery in April and I'm going to ask the surgeon but I don't he specialises in this area. X
Hi sorry to hear about your rib pain. I'm on waiting list for surgery for suspected Endometriosis and every month from ovulation to period I get sharp stabbing pains on ribs and it alternantes right to left. I always get so scared that time off the month thinking it's not normal to feel like im being stabbed in the ribs. It's always like clockwork every month from ovulation to period and sometimes I get the stabbing pains in my pelvic area, groin area and in my vagina. Can I ask where did they find your Endometriosis that is causing your extreme rib pain? Xxx
Hi sorry to hear about your suffering as well. I haven't had my first surgery yet but I have an appointment beforehand with the consultant so was going to check if he could maybe check for possible thoratic endometriosis as I've read it can cause severe pain in the ribs and sternen area. Can let you know how I get on though x
Thank you for the reply. Yes that would be great if you could let me know. I also understand that rib pain could mean it's on the diaphragm as well, it's very common with rib pain so might be worth asking your consultant about that as well. How did you get diagnosed? I'm thinking off going private for an MRI x
Great advice thank you. I got diagnosed by accident Dec 23 after years of nobody knowing what was wrong with me and i'm now 39! Basically my periods changed so they did a scan and found a mass. I had a Hysteroscopy and was diagnosed with Adenomyosis. Then I decided to go private and the consultant diagnosed me with severe endometriosis as well as Adenomyosis. It's all still new to me so finding out as much as I can before my first surgery. I'm thinking of asking for an MRI myself 👍 xx
