New diagnosis and bad clinic experience

Hi all. After battling through symptoms for years, being dismissed, being referred to every which specialty, I asked for a gynae referral and had an MRI. The consultant unsympathetically told me I have adhesions, my uterus has moved, and an ovary is squished and attached to my colon. So she's recommended the coil as well as surgery. I did expect endo and possible adhesions, but it's still upsetting and she had zero bedside manner, no empathy at all and stared at me as if she wanted me to leave. I had to ask questions - she didn't really volunteer any information.

I'm wondering if it's worth getting a second opinion or does this course of treatment sound pretty standard? I actually studied medicine and have also read a lot about endo but it's just different knowing it's happening in my body and I guess I'm thrown by the lack of care in how I was told. Thanks for reading <3

I think it's the way she delivered the message that has upset you. Some of them are like robots. However, the majority of them are great. I think you just got a rubbish one. At least you aren't being dismissed. She has a plan for you, and it involves surgery. What you need to take away from it is you've finally been diagnosed and you were right. Forget about her crappy bedside manner. Focus on you now. You'll probably see other consultants as you go through this journey. Good luck x
