So on Tuesday I had my first laparoscopy and got diagnosed with endometriosis. It’s come as a shock but after 2+ years of pain and suffering I’m happy I’ve got a diagnosis. I’ve had my adhesions cut out but been told due to endo being a long term condition I still need to do things to manage this condition.
Advice please???
What exercise to people do that helps their endo?
Diet recommendations??
Just any advice to help a girl out please xxx

After a diagnosis, your consultant normally recommends a hormone treatment to help manage pain, stop endo growing back. In the last two years I’ve tried the combined pill, mini pill, Provera, depo Provera and zoladex (menopause for 6 months). Going through menopause at 20 isn’t nice haha and I came off it last month. It’s trial and error as to what works with you. Unfortunately my endo has returned so I don’t know what my next option is 🤦🏻♀️
Diet- I recommend an anti inflammatory, gluten, wheat and dairy free diet. It’s hard at first but once you get into it, it’s alright. I use an app called Pinterest which has amazing recipes that are delicious and easy to make. It includes breakfast, dinner, snacks etc. Cutting out chocolate was hard though haha.
Exercise- I do a lot of cardio and weight training but I’m a golfer so it may be different to other people. After surgery, I went back to the gym a week later and did slow walking like 4-5 mph for 10 minutes as my energy wasn’t fully back. But any kind of exercise and yoga is quite good for easing pain and being gentle on the body.
I agree with everything you mentioned. I would add also stress & anxiety management they can contribute to the generation of cortisol that competes in resources with your necessary hormones and overall have a negative impact on your health.
Unfortunately beef as much as I love it and any other red meat have been out of my life for a long time.
From my specialist's letter:
"We discussed about diet and my advice will be the following:
- Try to avoid fried fat and fried food in general, red meats and gluten rich food. You
should also limit the intake of caffeine and alcohol.
- You should increase food containing a high level of iron such as green vegetables, beans,
legumes and nuts. Please increase the amount of food containing unsaturated fatty acid
such as nuts, sardines, salmons, fish in general, vegetable oil and nuts.
- Maintaining a low weight is also important as the fat tissue works as a gland producing
In terms of hormone treatment i've tried basically everything except the menopause enchancer. I've found the Mirena Coil (the hormonal one) has drastically lowered the level of bleeding and the length of menstruation time. It was an absolute b**** at fitting but has been such a good decision for me personally, and worth the implant pain and discomfort.
I'm so happy you've finally had a diagnosis! I've not had anything exploratory yet, but my GP has been fantastic and is super clued up. She basically recommended to try different hormonal contraceptives to see which suits you and works the best.
