Worried about spotting

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some help and advice as I’ve not really experienced this and I’m unsure as to what to do. I have adenomyosis and endometriosis (but not had a lap to confirm yet) and I have been spotting for the last week. I’m on birth control but I have been for over four years and I’ve been on this particular pill for over two years. I assumed that it was stress because I’m in my second year at uni and have just had some exams which I was very stressed about. However I was hoping that once I stopped being stressed, the bleeding would stop. I’ve spotted occasionally before when I was taking six pill packets back to back (under the advice of my gynaecologist) and reached the last couple of days before taking my break, however when I reduced that to five packs back to back it stopped. This time however I’ve still got about three weeks until I’m due to take my break. The spotting is causing the pain in pelvis, back and legs to be worse than usual and is also interfering with my bowel movements, making some daily activities challenging. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Is it likely to stop on its own? Or am I better off taking the break in my pill early?

Thank you x

Hi there. I had a lot of spotting when on the pill, and occasionally with the Mirena which I have now. I could never spot any discernible pattern to it though.

Given it's giving you a lot of problems and it was your gynaecologist that suggested you take the pill back to back for longer without a break, you might want to see if you can reach out to their secretary to ask for advice, or failing that go to see your GP.
