Surgery soon

Hello everyone,I have my surgery booked for late Feb to investigate for endo. I will be 45 at the end of this month. I am in pain most days with my left ovary and

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was in my mid twenties, and had two cysts removed from my left ovary in 2013 and then again in 2019. I started to get pain again in Sept 2022, eventually got my doctor to take me seriously in Jan 23, then found out my cervix looked red, so fast forward to June 23 where I had a colposcopy where they found cells, but the results where ok. Went back on the 3rd Jan this year and she had to take another biopsy as she saw some more cells, results will be back in about 10 weeks.

Also had a couple of internal scans to see what was going on, one showed there was a cyst, then a layer one showed that the cyst had gone, and I thought that was the case as one day the pain was so bad I thought I was going to pass out.

Everyone said that the PCOS shouldn't cause me pain, but I was in pain and the reason was because my cysts where quite large, the one they removed in 2019 was 8cms.

I had an MRI in October 23 and that came back clear, but I don't have a copy of the results, also had an internal scan in late Dec 23, that also came back clear.

My question is can I have PCOS and endometriosis?

What if they find nothing when I have my laparoscopy?

If you've read all of this, thank you, I know it's long!

Hi there. It's possible to have PCOS and endo I believe, or you can have cysts caused by endo, which I had on my left ovary until removal on Saturday. I know the uncertainty can feel quite unsettling, but I would try not to worry. The main thing is that you have surgery booked and they'll then be able to tell you exactly what they find. I'd say it's unlikely there will be nothing as they wouldn't do surgery if they think it is the case. Good luck with it all.

Hi GreenViolin,

Thank you, I hope your recovery is going well.

I had cysts removed before, but I know this lap will be different and maybe deeper.

I'm a little worried about the recovery time as I work in a nursery, the last cyst I had removed I was back to work after 10 days, I don't think that will be the case this time.

I have endo , pcos , adenomyosis and a large 10cm cyst . I’m in the waiting list for a lap to have cyst, endo and ovary removed . So u can have both . Ur lap should hopefully give u an idea of what is causing you pain and hopefully they are able to help with this . Good luck
