2 months on and I’m in pain again technically still recovery in the grand scheme of it but wondered how soon after you can get referred back to the specialist etc?
They removed everything during the surgery at an endo centre so I doubt they will be jumping at the chance for surgery again
Hi Kate345, are you on any hormonal treatment? You could be referred again to talk about your options in terms of hormone treatment but I doubt they will suggest surgery again so soon as your body will still be healing. Although, I could be wrong if your pain is particularly severe. I think it is best to have a ultrasound/MRI scan to see what is going on in more detail before going in for surgery again. Hope it works out for youx
Only just started on the pill and had a break through bleed on it due to missing one so hopefully the pain is due to that causing disruption.
Oh my god just realised it’s only been 2 months! Surgery was April we are now in June!!!!
I had my lap September 17 and I was referred back to gynae and had an appointment with a new doctor last month because my symptoms are still the same x
Hi Kate. I’m in the same situation as you. I was put on Visanne hormone treatment and I think a lot of the pain I still feel is cramping from that. My surgeon said three to six months is the time frame to feel the real benefits of the surgery, it takes time to heal. But I can’t help worrying like you too that it may not have worked!
Yeah it’s still really early days only had surgery 8 weeks ago.. that’s pretty early on really.
I had surgery in July last year, then more in October then another surgery yesterday and significant endo was found and excised each time. It should technically take 6 periods for things to settle down post lap but sometimes the cysts just grow like weeds.
I knew the endo was back with a vengeance approx 2 months after my surgery (pain plus the solid lump in my stomach). Took a good 18months for them to go through the rigmarole of scans/consultants etc and finally agreeing something had to be done. If it's causing grief start chasing it up sooner rather than later.

If the pain relief from surgery only lasted 2 months then they would be very unlikely to repeat it as it wasnt an effective treatment.
If you had benefit for 12...24...36 months they woukd definitely consider having another go.
Im guessing painkillers/hormones are what will be most effective.

It’s hard to say if it’s not just from the break through bleed my bladder issues or constipation I’ve got a storm going on in my pelvis.

That sounds positive... hope it settles down. Good on you for getting back to gym. Im 48hrs post a 4hr laparoscopy. The stairs are bad enough right now! Have a catheter in. Looking forward to it settling in the next few days.
Are you not still under a consultant. No follow up? Had my surgery over 18 months ago and still see my consultant regular. Every 4 months. As someone has already said, they dont repeat surgery if surgery failed miserably, unless of course, it becomes an emergency. Clear-ups are usually every 2 years!
They discharged me but said any issues contact them again. thing is in only 8 weeks post op and have other issues so it’s hard to say why I feel this way now
During surgery everything was removed, at an endo specialist centre but they did say symptoms can still happen in people even when it’s removed
So confusing
Its very confusing because i had the total opposite of you! I had complex excision too. Believe me it can be very much endo, my symptoms came back within weeks. I was put on the pill, then another follow up, the Zoladex, then another follow up, then i had an ultrasound, another followup, back on Zoladex and i go back in a couple of weeks. My consultant has made it clear he doesnt want to rush me back into theatre anytime soon but im far from discharged. Im under an Endo specialist at a BSGE centre, NHS. I cant understand why you was discharged?
I mean total opposite as i wasnt discharged, and by the sounds of it, neither shouldve you! But you sound very similar to me. Surgery made me worse not better! 2 years on i still havent 'recovered' so it was very much not just recovering from surgery. Believe your gut instinct. If you think endo is back, the sooner you put in that referral, the better! Xx
