COCP - millinette

hi everyone

After putting it off for years I caved and have now been taking the pill (millinette) for a year for symptoms suggestive of endo (painful periods).

I take the pill break every 21 days as recommended but still have painful “periods” (although they are not as bad as they used to be). The last couple of months my withdrawal bleeds have been getting worse - this month the pains started before the bleeding. Has anyone experienced anything like this on the pill? I can see from posts that many people take pill packs back to back before allowing a break?

I've been on birth control for 15+ years and have been using it moreso continuously the entire time. First on my own and then with the reccomendation of my doctor due to excruciatingly painful periods even on BC. However this past year I've had continuous pain and a worsening of symptoms so I will be having surgery soon, which is unfortunatly the onyl real treatment it seems. BC definitely isn't treatment for endo but can possibly help with symptoms for some women. If you're having pain during your pill period I would talk to your doctor. I'm sure they can provide guidance on how to transition into taking it continuously, and ensure you are on the right kind of BC for continuous use. I first started skipping every other month, then every few. At this point I only remember to have a pill period every 9 months or so if I start spotting. I'm on yaz and have been on it the entire time. I tried others but it was the only one that I seemed to tolerate.

you can absolutely take the pill back to back. It’s thought that bleeding might make the endo worse, so avoiding a period is good not just for avoiding period pain.

When I had a break between pills, I still had painful periods, just not as painful as without the pill.
