I know it's blood in the fallopian tubes, but is it common and does it go hand in hand with endometriosis? What causes it? It came up on my MRI but nobody seems bothered about it. Should I be concerned?
What is hydrosapinx?: I know it's blood in... - Endometriosis UK
What is hydrosapinx?
Hallo! A hydrosalpinx is when you have fluid in your Fallopian tube (hydro = water). When you have blood in your Fallopian tube it’s called a haemosalpinx (haemo = blood) and that is more concerning. Yes, it can be caused by endo or a pelvic infection, among other things.
Although a hydrosalpinx isn’t life threatening it can affect your fertility or cause an ectopic pregnancy. It can also cause some discomfort in the pelvic area. If it needs treatment, a surgeon will normally drain the tube, or in worse cases, remove it altogether.
They won't offer me another scan. I'm 50 and they have me on zolodox. There's zero wrap around care in the NHS. Are you in the UK?
Sorry, I didn’t see your comment. Yes, I’m in the UK and also on Zoladex. I’m surprised they won’t offer you an ultrasound/trans vaginal scan as how do they monitor you?
I've had them already and an MRI privately. I'd hope they'd give me a scan after being on zoladex but my experience thus far is that I have to push for everything. The fact I'm 50 and nearing the average age of menopause in their eyes makes me quite irrelevant. There's no monitoring of my fibroids.
I've also just realised it haemo not hydro so blood not water as you said (thank you).
So it's effectively endometriosis inside the fallopian tubes
