sciatic pain

I’ve recently been diagnosed with Adenomyosis and suffer daily with pelvic pain and like a sciatic pain in my back and down my legs. Has anyone else had this, I’m not sure if the two are related. I also have diverticulosis so falling apart at the seems. 🤯

I have a provisional diagnosis of Adenomyosis and have the same nerve pain you describe. I find Naproxen really helps it. I'm also starting Amitriptyline over Christmas, as it targets pelvic/nerve pain. It's horrible, so I feel for you 🥺

I have endometriosis, and I suffer with sciatic pain also. I was prescribed amytriptaline which works very well for the nerve type pain. Doc said it was because the nerve is being aggravated due to inflammation close to the nerve. It's a difficult pain to deal with, but I found since using the amytriptaline it is much more manageable.

Hi also have ademenoysis. I get lower back pain but I get nerve pain in my hip mainly right one that sends nerve pain down the front into knee and calf. I've had x-ray and nothing found so can only assume it's related to my endo. It's an awful pain nothing really eases it but stretching my lower back and hips helps a bit.

I have adenomyosis and I get pain down my leg. It literally causes my leg to buckle when I try to walk when it flares up. It’s definitely been something I’ve experienced so it could be your adeno causing the issue x

so sorry you’re also dealing with this. Sciatic pain has been my main symptom since I was late teens. I’ve been passed around ortho, neuro etc.

Have you had a lap?

No scans showed my endometriosis but I have just had a lap with rectovaginal endo excised (as well as other areas). I did have adeno on my MRI. The rectovaginal endo has likely been irritating nerves that pass through pelvis causing the sciatica.

I found Breuer menstrual relief TENS machine which has a heat function really useful for keeping me functioning and using less painkillers (as opioid messed up my already really messed up bowels from endo). I wear it on my lower back when the sciatic/low back pain is bad. I was on amitriptyline for nerve pain for a long time but currently TTC.

I'm sorry to hear this babe I know how horrible it is :( I have adenomyosis and endo and have always experienced leg and back pain but I am currently on day 5 of my period and it has been horrific (had to take two days off sick from work and they sent me home yesterday after three hours as I couldn't walk and just kept crying) and for some reason it is my legs that have taken it particularly bad this month? no idea why but just wanted to say you are not alone🫶

Sorry you’re going through this. Adenomyosis can make pelvic pain spread to your back and legs, kinda like sciatic pain. Diverticulosis isn’t directly related, but it can make things worse. It’s good to chat with your doctor about a plan that can help with both and ease your pain.
