Hi, I'm new here, so sorry if this has been asked before. I had a hysterectomy (retaining ovaries and cervix) in June, but since August have had monthly bleeding. Pretty sure it's endometriosis, which I was only diagnosed with when the hysterectomy was undertaken. It was in my bowel and pouch of Douglas.
If anyone has experience of this, what did you do next? I'm not on any meds and only early 40s so likely to have symptoms for years.
What I used to think was bad periods pain must've been endometriosis pain. I feel so annoyed for all those years my GP brushed me off as having normal periods 😭

I think this just goes to highlight the huge misconceptions there are out there that many people (Inc some doctors!) think a hysterectomy will make everything ok and is some magic fix. I feel for you greatly and join you in your frustration with doctors of dismissing extreme period pain as normal. Having had significant issues with Prostap and an extreme reaction to the shutdown of all hormones, my consultant said my ovaries must not be removed if I chose to have a hysterectomy. My main concern having endo & adenomyosis was knowing that with hormones still active I may well still have issues despite a hysterectomy, as you are finding, so I haven’t yet opted for that route. However that still leaves pain. Like EvilEdna77’s advice, it’s definitely worth going back to the surgeon to get follow up advice for sure. Everyone reacts in a slightly different way with endo and you need tailored advice. All the very best to you, I’m with you with how demoralising it can be and really hope you can get some extra help soon on this having been so brave to have the hysterectomy to try and help your pain, to go through that trauma only to now experience more issues is very sad. Take care x
