Hi All,

I’m 22 and have been suffering with endo symptoms for around 4 years. I’ve been waiting for a gynae appointment which is finally happening end of November🤞🏽 I had an ultrasound which advised that I have what they look for when looking for endo.

Im currently having a really bad flare up and wanted to know if anyone’s symptoms are like this too. I get random bursts of pain that last around 30 mins, I can only describe them as what I would imagine a contraction to feel like. I have severe cramping which makes me doubled over in pain, can’t get comfy, can’t even breathe away the pain and sometimes end up being sick purely due to the pain. And then it subsides and then I’m okay, however this happens a good number of times throughout the days on a flare up and are mainly worse at night/early morning??

I wake up early morning in excruciating pain - have the same episode and then it subsides.

Also, the first symptom that I had was the exact same bursts of horrible pain when I had an orgasm, but not every time - it was at random. I still get this now, so never risk it when I’m having a flare up. But it’s making my sex life in my relationship rubbish cause I’m always scared I’m going to get this terrible pain afterwards - and never know if it will happen or not.

Has anyone else had symptoms like this? Where they come in bursts of severe pain and then are okay again until the next burst?

Hi Elbow,

You are certainly not alone. I have had my surgery and am currently going through an early forced temporary menopause. I had similar problems before hand; pain during and after sex, chronic pain during periods (which got more frequent in the months towards my op). It was horrible. I don’t know what’s going on with your insides, but I had to avoid certain positions during sex and my partner was very understanding of being gentle as we never knew how I was going to react each time (i was always had more pain closer to my periods). I kept a diary of when my pain struck and tried to use that to note what my triggers were. Maybe you could do something similar? And if intercourse is a massive problem everytime, you can have plenty of fun with general play and oral, even with non penetrative toys. My advice would be to figure out what works for you and avoid the things that trigger painful episodes if they are causing you distress, at least until you have got further with your diagnosis and know what you are dealing with.

Much love and I really hope you get sorted and feel a million times better soon! Xx

This is SUPER normal for endo sufferers. I do want to clarify for you though that unless they see an endometrioma, no ultrasound or scan can show endometriosis. I am excited for you to see your gyno as they can schedule a laparoscopy, which is the only way you can confirm endo. Keep breathing and know that it's going to get better!

I’m sorry to hear that you are suffering like this 🙁 I have experienced a similar type of pain and for my it was discovered that I had a (rather large) polyp. When I got my period my body was naturally trying to dispel it so the pain was excruciating to the point where I was throwing up. The description of a contraction is accurate! For me, it was eradicated by having it removed but I had to have a general anaesthetic as it was so large. Not sure if that’s what’s happening for you but it does sound very similar. Id definitely recommend keeping a diary and taking it with you to your appointment. Good luck x

hey lovely. Unfortunately this is normal symptoms of endometriosis 😞 when mine flares like that it helps to have a massage machine on it, I have this one amzn.eu/d/0VusTuY or a tens machine. I really feel your pain and hope your gynae appointment goes well coming up soon. I agree with the other replies, try to make a pain diary so you can show it to the consultant xx
