What treatments were you offered first for suspected endo?

I'm in pain everyday and suspect I have endo in my bowel, bladder and belly button

My GP agrees it sounds like endo and has refered me to gynae

If they agree would they usually send you for a laparoscopy to diagnose & remove it?

Or do they offer hormone treatments or pain management first?

Will hormone treatments reverse what is already there or does it just slow the growth?

I'm 26 and have always said I didn't want kids but everytime I think about the possibility of not be able to have them it makes me cry so now I'm not sure, maybe in the future, how would this affect my treatment options?

When it was suspected, I was recommended multiple different types of pill and mini pill, pain relief acids, and then the coil - I've tried all except the coil. Then I had an MRI, then was referred to specialist. I'm still considering the coil. I guess it depends on where you are and who is seeing you, but I would think that they will go down hormonal treatment and pain management first, not least to try and manage your symptoms while you are waiting for next steps.

Yeah that was kind of what I suspected, ive tried many different pills when I was younger and my body did not agree with them at all, ive been thinking about the coil but it seems to be 50/50 on whether it helps or makes it worse, guess I will just wait and see how it goes, fingers crossed 🤞 thanks for replying

Ah, it seems like we're in a similar boat then - I didn't get on with any of the pills I was on, either, and am also undecided on the coil, though at the moment and thinking I might as well try it. Hopefully once you've had your referral appointment things will seem clearer - hope you're not facing too much of a wait for that, and hope you get something sorted!

Yeah I'm thinking about trying it too but I might have to do a bit more research first! My appointment is at the end of this month so not long to go, just trying to do lots of research before I attend so I can make the best decision for me.

Hope you get sorted too, good luck 😊

I got my result in early October and am waiting to hear. I guess it’s different everywhere but I think I’m facing a few months wait - I’m just waiting and seeing!

I have tried all the different pill options and couldn’t get on with any of them. And had the coil fitted 3 weeks ago. This is the last treatment option I have so trying to get to the 6 month mark to see if it helps

Hello, I have recently had mirena coil fitted. Can I ask if you have seen any difference? I am still experiencing significant pain. Thanks

I have found that it has actually made it so much worse. The cramping, bloat are horrendous. I started bleeding 5 days ago and it’s so heavy and painful. I have been prescribed morphine to try and help.

I was the same with the pill, couldn't get on with any of them, how is it going with the coil so far?
