I'm getting desperate 🥹 After 2 years of crohnic pelvic pain with associated bowel/bladder issues and probable Adenomyosis. I just can't see this getting sorted anytime soon.I've looked up Beneden and it seems almost too good to be true. They take pre-existing conditions and after 6 months you can have diagnostics/ treatment. It's 12.50 per month!
Has anyone used Beneden health? - Endometriosis UK
Has anyone used Beneden health?
Hi there, I have Benenden health and I got it for the purpose of treating endo! Their policy covers the diagnostic lap and treatment of endo if required. I got this checked with my consultant/surgeon in advance with the applicable procedure code! Now I got my procedure done under NHS through a lucky cancellation but I had already paid my years membership for beneden. I also rang them to ask if they covered the procedure and they confirmed back in June 23!
Of course if you are still unsure phone them up and ask for your self as their policy may change but for 12:50 a month I would pay anyways then check again nearer your 6 month mark!
Hope this helps
Hi I used them through work. Great for getting diagnostics tests but then things got confusing. once diagnosed they said they couldn't help with treatment that was delayed. Check the smallprint carefully
Yes I did for a consultation but I wouldn’t recommend - maybe I got unlucky but the surgeon that I met was quite dismissive and didn’t seem to know too much about endo. He also said he would use ablation if he did find any endo. I ended up waiting for my NHS appointment and had my lap through NHS and got diagnosed with endo & adenomyosis
Thank you for your replies. I need a hysterectomy, so I'm hoping it would be more straight forward. I will definitely give them a call x
I subscribed and then cancelled because they didn’t help at all. I paid for 6 months waiting to be able to see a specialist and I was told they wouldn’t help in the end.
Benenden don't have an endo specialist so you might get a lap but if you have it on your bowel or anywhere that would class it as stage 3-4 they won't remove it and will leave it behind. I had this before my endo was actually diagnosed and I was operated on to remove huge cysts on my ovaries but was told when I woke up how bad it was and that they weren't qualified enough to remove it. The Benenden consultant then did the referral to the BSGE centre. Just bear this in mind before you apply x
you can’t choose your consultant with Benenden as it’s bits private health but a health cash plan. V different things. and I had a general Gynae do my hysterectomy even though I had severe (stage 3 or 4) rectovaginal endo so ended up in a much worse place with worse ongoing pain that I then had to wait for bsge centre to sort out. So I wouldn’t recommend at all. I didn’t k ow enough about endo before going through with hyster but I’d strongly suggest you stay away.
Thank you so much for all of your replies. They have been very helpful. So, I think I will avoid! I'm so glad I asked now xx
