Zoladex and abdominal pain

Hello, I’ve just started another cycle of Zoladex for endometriosis. I had a 6 month cycle about 18months ago.

Just curious to know if anyone else has experienced abdominal pain that is constant and quite intense? I can’t remember being in this much discomfort last time? I understand that it takes a while to settle but just wondered if anyone else experienced this and how long for? Thank you ❤️‍🩹

HiI'm afraid I can't answer your question but do you know you can only take it for 6 months? I'm due to start soon but am worried about what damage it does to your body.

Hello, thanks for your message ☺️. I’m hoping to have my surgery within the six months because I don’t want to take it for any longer than that. I know sometimes they say you can extend it but I don’t want to.

It is a worry not knowing the health implications with having zoladex, feels like we’re always needing to make difficult decisions to manage pain.

I’ve had zoladex before and it was life changing for me at the time, obviously everyone is different but it helped me so much having some respite from chronic pain ❤️‍🩹 it took a couple of months for my body to settle & get used to it.

Hope everything goes well for you.

Thankyou. Im down for surgery for hysterectomy, endo removal and my endometrioma. The consultant was saying to take zolodex etc to help but didn't mention to me about the 6 months. He also said surgery wouldn't be before a year (May) so do I take it for 6months then my body will fire up again then surgery! I get its to help with the deep pain and to stop periods but they don't really explain much to you.

Do you have any contact with an endometriosis nurse? Sometimes they can be good to contact for more information.

My nurse has been very supportive and helpful. I understand your dilemma with timings and surgery, it’s a lot to think about ❤️‍🩹

Hi,No I don't have a nurse. I just saw a consultant who talked about my scans and my options. I think I will just have to go back to my GP.

Thankyou, I hope yours settles down again.

I’m on my first cycle of zoladex. First injection 3 weeks ago and I’ve been in the worst pain that I have ever felt in my endo/adnemyosis journey. So bad through my pelvis and lower back I’ve had to go on codeine and anti inflammatory’s and can’t wait. I don’t know if it’s normal or not!

Thank you for your message and sorry to hear you’re struggling with pain too. I don’t feel like I’m the only one experiencing this discomfort now.

I had my first injection on Monday and I’ve had the worst abdominal pain, like real deep in my tummy. I can’t remember it being this bad last time I had it and nothing I have read says about abdominal pain as a side effect? I keep worrying if it’s normal or not, and will it just go on its own eventually?
