I’ve been going to the gp since I was 19 with painful periods, abdo pain, bloating etc and have been gaslit. I am now 41.
In Jan 2022 I went to my gp with rectal bleeding, saw a gynaecologist in September, had an MRI in November 22 which shows deep infiltrating endometriosis, kissing ovaries, cysts, plaque on the abdominal wall, bowels etc.
I was referred to endo team in November 22, I was offered an appointment with a consultant in September 2023 and have had my appointment rescheduled 3 times.
It is now rescheduled with a nurse.
I feel really disheartened that I’m going to be offered hormones and have to wait for a doctor apt. Has anyone else had similar and what was your experience?
I am a medical professional and highly respect nurses but can’t imagine she’ll be able to schedule me for surgery which is what I want after years of hormones/transamic acid/coils etc.
Hoping for some positive experiences!

I'm so sorry to hear you have been through all this, it must be very stressful. I don't think anurse should be trying to do a gynaecologist job or is qualified to select you for surgery, it makes no sense. If yu have a couple of hundred pounds go private and see a gynae, it sounds like they don't have anyone available in your area.
I too have had a very similar experience to you. I am sorry to say that the NHS is severely under resourced and understaffed. I can’t really see a point in you seeing a nurse. They usually only offer contraception or hormone treatment. I’d maybe go back to your GP and push for a gyny apt again with a gyny doctor not a nurse.
I would also say private is going to be more than a few hundred. I’ve had private treatment through work and only had a small cost share which I’ve now paid but just to put it into perspective an MRI privately was over £1000 and my initial apt was over £600 as they did an ultrasound too.
Private is very expensive unless you have some cover in place beforehand.
I’m so sorry you’re having such a horrible time of it all. I hope you get the surgery you need soon x
